Default Want to make my own TALL ramps

I want to make my own ramps that will get the car pretty high in the air, high enough to pull the tranny, or whatever needs to be done. I thought about getting some planks of wood (12" wide or so) and cutting an incline into the front, and doing two of these so each side of the car could drive up onto it. Does this make sense to everyone? Will wood be strong enough to support the weight of the car?

Make sure you scroll all the way through that thread. There are my ramps, as well as some other guys' ideas. Wood is plenty strong as long as you stack it and build it right. I trust wood over plastic at this point...I had a rhino ramp shatter.

Whatever you do, just be careful. Over engineer everything when it comes to your safety.

Well, my concern with the wood ramps is the racking that could occur. I don't see many/any diagonal braces under it.
