So the ls3 doesnt have a VVT cam phaser or AFM... Is it bad that those motors dont?

Basically it allowsfor cylinder shutdown at low loads to improve fuel efficiency. IMO, its best to avoid for hot rodding because we're all about making more power, not saving gas! Just more to deal with during the conversion if you have a VVT engine.

yea it came in a few days later, it looked beautiful but sadly, i was scamed by 89formulaws6, the motor had a bad crank but i wasnt informed of this, so when my engine builder checked it out he pulled the crank and put the right one in, so i never got a chance to use the conversion box

we have a 07 escalade motor we want to do a carb conversion on using the MSD ignition controller. What are my options as far as the VVT is concerned?

Remove it. You'll have to remove the displacement on demand also if it has it.
See the list above to see what you need. Disregard the EFI parts and sensors, they don't apply.
Hope you got a deal on it. With changing the cam, cam gear, timing cover, and possibly the lifters and lifter trays you'll have alot more than if you got a used LS2 or 6.0 LQ4/LQ9 truck motor.

Not trying to jack the thread, but on a similar note, would it be possible to get a Vortec 6.0 (LQ9???) and use that computer and harness for a swap into a '94 LT1 Firebird? I know the appropriate external parts would still need to be changed to the car versions, but is it reasonable??? I know that anything can be done with time, money, and knowledge...

I had some questions of my own

I see suggested to replace rod bolts and all the bearings? Any reason such as know issues or just a 'Might as well?'

Oil pump, what if the L92 doesn't have DOD. Then the pump is a standard unit, correct?

So all I need to do is install an ls2 cam sprocket, timing cover, and valley pan and I'm good? In regards to these particular items that is.

Essentially, yes. But you need to make sure it is the correct LS2 timing cover, because there are several, and not all of them may work. I Also think you need the correct hardware and timing chain snubber as well. Lingenfelter sells a kit for this.
