E85 loves compression. It is very resistant to knock. If you are building a engine with E85 in mind, 9.5 cr, at least, is a great idea. Your off boost throttle response and overall drive ability will be a lot better.
If it were a gasoline engine, then lower cr would give you more room for error.
I stopped at 24*, and did not feel it was worth the risk to keep pushing it. It was picking up power every time we added 2*. I was way rich too, probably low 10's at high boost. I am still dialing it in, I will lean out the AFR a bit, but I probably won't mess with much more timing. Around 1000 hp to the tires now. |
