Good idea to put heat shields around the cats, but you also need to get rid of the rich condition. The more unburned fuel getting into the exhaust, the more the Cats will need to "convert" or burn off thus making more heat. If you let that condition continue I think you may risk ruining the Catalytic converters. Any idea why it is running so rich? Do you have the O2 sensors hooked up? Have you done any reprogramming?
