Because I have had many nitrous kits over the years. Dry, all wet, two stage wet/dry, two stage dry/dry, two stage wet/wet, three stage dry/dry/dry, 2 stage direct port/dry, single stage direct port with progressive rpm controller, and on and on.
The absolute hands down most reliable setup I have ever owned and operated was a dual stage dry setup with automatic timing retard tuned in. It was on a 383 ci motor that made about 415 rwhp on motor and 700-725 rwhp on the dual stage dry. It was simple...effective...and NEVER had a glitch in the three years I ran it like that. I probably put 2000-2500 lbs of nitrous thru that motor. The motor finally had to be torn down because I wore out the thrust bearing...it was completely gone. The counter weight on the crank was riding on the main cap. The play fwd and aft on the crank got soo bad that when I would spray it...the crank would walk fwd and the crank position sensor would lose signal and the computer would lose timing. The car would backfire like a bomb and shut off...lol. You just had to shut it off and it would crank back up.
When I finally pulled it apart...pistons looked like brand new. I tried many combos in the years after that motor...but never duplicated the reliability of that system. I made alot more power with other combos...but the dual stage dry was by far my most succesful setup.
And now I would like to duplicate that on the much lighter Z06 and shoot for roughly 600-650 rwhp...stock bottom end...cam only.
