Why would you ever go with the 12 bolt or s60 when you can get the 9 inch for the same price? It is like a freebie getting a better rear for the same price.
As for the noise, 12 bolt with a torque arm will start making more noise because the housing will flex after some m6 launches. The s60 is a bigger setup and more likely to whine in the first place. The nine inch you can set up on a bench because of the way the pumpkin comes out the front. Gear whine has to do with the brand of gears, backlash, ratio, etc. The good thing about the 9inch is that I can remove 4 bolts, pull the pinion out the front, and adjust the shimming to get rid of noise. The other two you have to pull the axles, ring gear, and all sorts of shit to set pinion shim if you have a noise problem. |
