Default First passes in the new car - SRCA in KS

I took the new car out to T+T last night just to get some base passes on it before I start modding it. Still on 30 day tag

Track conditions were FAR FROM ideal. I dont think they prepped the track very much if any, because it rained all morning and early afternoon. As 6pm rolls around and it's time to head to the track, it finally started clearing up so they basically dried the track and started the runs.

It was pretty cool weather, just a LOT of humidity. At the end of the night, they were having problems with the sensors at the end of the track getting water on them so we had to wait for them to be cleaned off, thus letting the track cool down some and more water set in on it.

Anyways, here's the car-

2000 z28 75k miles
Performabuilt lvl2 trans
Yank PT4000
3.73 gears
ls6 intake
MTI lid
BLOWmaster catback (with a piece of a cat in it I believe)
Nitto radials 275/40/17
5spk silver SS wheels
FULL WEIGHT full options car, t-top, leather w/ power, cd changer, spare+jack
Completely untuned except for gearing change

R/T - .080
60' - 1.815
330 - 5.248
1/8 - 8.163
MPH - 83.99
1000 - 10.68
1/4 - 12.813
MPH - 105.29

Obviously not a mph car, and I should be getting a LOT better launches. I had to leave easy to not spin as much. I was stalling to about 3k, letting off of the brake until it grabbed then stepping on gas. If I stepped on gas and let off brake at same time it was spin spin spin.

Feel like I have a little misfire at the top of third gear in the high rpms.. probably a plug or wire. I will be doing them when I get the headers/ory. My shitty flowing flowmaster, with a piece of the cat in it (rattles), isn't helping either. I will be doing headers/ory/catback soon anyways.

I should be seeing 12.5 or so with decent conditions and a harder launch I would guess. I will post up the slip when I am off work tonight. Hopefully with headers/ory/catback and new plugs/wires and a MUCH NEEDED TUNE I will be seeing closer to the bottom 12s or high 11s. Heads/cam from there.

Not great times but these were just my base line passes with the new car. My friends weren't running worth a **** either with the track conditions. 405rwhp ls6 ws6 ran a best of 13.2 on his 315 street tires, and my buddies 355 hotcam lt1 was running low 13s on Nittos. Just not a good night for racing I guess.

Launch conditions at the beginning of the night - nittos squealing at 18psi. My buddies Magnacharged 5.3 spun worse, haha.

My 12.97 pass.. last pass of the night. Launched it easy because everyone told me about the conditions. Racing my buddies 750rwhp procharged 408. I had him for the first 60 . I went 12.97@105, he went 10.82@130

Couple pics for the night:

My car-

Just put new braces on the catfish-

Burnout.. looks photoshopped.. but it's really not lol

Magnacharged 5.3. He ran a 13.3 running 4wd the whole track lol. No way to hook it with 2wd. Major sleeper

LS6 TA on the left, 355 LT4 cammed car on the right

Slip- I'm G90

I'll crop it later, I have to go to a night class tonight

Just thought I'd add also, the track altitude is 1800' I believe. The cool weather was GREAT but the humidity canceled out that advantage I think. My friends with a weather station weren't there though so I didn't get a DA. In two weeks, we'll see what she runs again.

And, one of my radials got a nail at the track! Brand new, I made a couple passes and everything was fine. Then out of nowhere, people were telling me I was throwing sparks out of the driver side tire, I looked and sure as **** there is a nail in it. That's great.

I hope in 2 weeks it's cool weather and no humidity.. that way I don't have to come back with excuses! I have a video of a 12.97 run I'll post so you guys can see my easy launch and still spinning.

Fixed the radial today.. can't wait to race again.

The car is stock suspension other than some strano sway bars and an adjustable phr. LCA relocation brackets are a must.. as well as a torque arm. Pretty happy with the car so far though!

Hey what's goin on man? Good times from the car! Hope to see you out next T&T here shortly. Got the TSP 224R in, just working on some idle tuning.

Had a best of 13.3@106.79, 2.05 60' last time out, hoping for mid-high 12's at 108+ this time, humidity was really killing us last time out! Corrected D/A was around 2400ft.

That is awesome, your car should run great with the cam. Really need some gear and converter though!

I need to get some work done to my car hopefully before the next TT. Need to figure out what to do with my rattling catback and probably change my plugs. I think they may still be originals!

The car needs a tune bad too! Still has torque management, and everything stock!

You'll still give me a hell of a run, nothing beats a stalled auto with gears and slicks.....

No joke, get the TQ mgt. off, and knock the cats out, you'll be good!

Probably won't have much done to the car by the next T+T, but hopefully by the october races I'll have the headers/ory/catback done.

I REALLY need to sell my bike or truck, or both. I'll have some money to work on the car if I do that, lol.

I need to get a tune pretty bad.. probably going to send off the PCM to TSP when I drop the engine for the headers/ory and do some engine bay cleanup at that time.

We have HP. I'll take the TM off, Abuse off, bump the timing and shift points for $150.00

Humm that is definitely something for me to consider. The main reason I'm considering TSP is because of their year of free updates.. I will probably run the car full boltons for a while then when I get the extra dough I am probably going to order a prc 5.3 set of heads and a 228r. Once everything is complete and I have a baseline tune for it I plan on driving the car to TSP for fun roadtrip and a dyno tune.

Sounds like a good plan! With you planning on modding more in the future that would definately be the best route to take. Going to be one fast machine!

Lol, yea, track prep was bad the other night. I usually never spin, but it was decent. You on the other hand, well, if we were giving awards for who could burn past the 60' timer, you'd have it.

I know it, I hook better on the streets in town with these tires than I did at the track.

I blame it on the rain, I bet they didn't prep at all or very very little if they did.

Well I finally removed my blowmaster and replaced it with a bullet-type muffler, and we got some decent weather conditions so we ran again tonight.

I was stuck in the 13.2s forever and decided to let my GF drive the car. 13.2, twice in a row. Definitely a keeper

After her encouragement (aka her running the same times as me, lol) I clicked off 3 12.9s in a row. Couldn't go any faster tonight

Added hp (bullet compared to clogged up flowmaster), and lower track temp left me spinning pretty hard. My sixties were horrible, 1.86 was my best.. most were closer to 2.0s. Nittos at 18psi just aren't working for me, next time around I'm going to try Mickeys.

There is only a month left in this race season (2 more TTs) so I may be stuck going slow until next year. I need to sell some vehicles before I can mod this one!

I was there Friday night and seen you run. Clean car. I came to run, but my buddy's truck died like a mile from the track. We decided to leave his truck on the side of the road and headed to the track (4 people over six foot tall in a TA is not very comfortable). When we got there it was like 9:15 and they said it was too late to accept anymore cars. Oh well I will be there next week.

Damn that sucks. Which car was yours? Thanks for the compliment also.

I'm ready to move some of my vehicles so I can make this pig a little faster..

I parked over by the staging area. There were two other TAs parked there. I was the one in the middle. We were about the only people sitting in the stands. One of our friends was there with his purple Nova. We hung out over at his trailer while they were doing the gamblers race.
