Firebird Production Number, Color Breakouts, Options, Etc.....POST QUESTIONS HERE!
I've noted long ago the descrepancy between the #s listed in the '98 production from the ASC listing, the breakdown DrEvyl has posted shows only 2835 WS6s being built. Mine's #3030 and ASC claims 3086 were built so I've long known they didn't include something and suspected it was export cars. Hopefully once I complete the compilation of the '98s I'll solve that old mystery.
And thanks for putting it together so well for us.I dont know if my numbers are right but for 1998 WS6's I get:
1998 WS6 = 3086 total with 251 exports and 2835 US cars
-2693 Coupes
-2,449 Trans Am WS6 Coupes (150 Z49 exports, 26 CW7 exports)
-244 Formula WS6 Coupes (23 Z49 exports)*
*Includes 1998 Formula WS6 1LE = 15 total with 1 export
-393 Convertibles
-391 Trans Am WS6 Convertibles (52 Z49 exports)
-2 WS6 Formula Convertibles
That makes perfect sense. I've finished the 2002s and will be starting the '98s tomorrow (and update '99-'02s w/ export numbers).
Verts have a different body code in the VIN, not an RPO. Firebird 'verts are listed seperately from Firebird coupes on the compnine.com site. However, I did discover that the Y82 RPO that indicated a T/A coupe was not used for T/A 'verts, they got RPO Y84 instead.

Here's the latest 1999 - 2002 breakdowns which include the export #s.
NOTE that when I compared the totals in these breakdowns to other data sources, it appears that the CompNine database is missing some production units for the 2000 and 2002 model years. Therefore I added a "disclaimer" to the sheets for those 2 years. The '98, '99 and '01 look OK (i.e.: CompNine's database contains at least as many units as shown in partial breakdowns from the other sources I've been able to obtain over the years).
UPDATE 12/19/09: Here's all the LS1 Firebirds.........
EDIT 1/4/10: Posted updates further down.....

Here's the '95 and '97s......
I'm working on the '94s and '93 next. I'm doing the '96s last since it appears that CompNine's database is a few units short of a full production run for that year.

thank you so much for all of your effort and hard work compiling this info, I saved them all to my computer
RPO codes do change depending on year, 54U is "Collector Yellow" in 2002, but is a brighter "Sunfire Yellow" in '94. Also 71U is "Sunset Orange Metallic" in '00-'02, but was "Medium Patriot Red Metallic" in '94-'95. Also, Chevy and Pontiac may have different marketing names for the exact same color/RPO.
I have a 96 Formula, M6 , black hardtop, black cloth interior, 10 speaker cd stereo. It's not a WS6. I see black is one of the more common colors, I'm don't need color breakdown, was more wondering about T-Top vs. Hardtop? What kind of break down for numbers you have for this?
Thanks, Eric
Thanks, Eric

Did Pontiac switch from the "Formula v8" sticker to just "Formula" on the back bumper and headlight door? My car is a 94 and it has the one with "v8" on it. Did it get changed in later years? I have seen the sticker on newer LT1's and I notice most of them don't have "v8" on the end.

Mine just has Formula on the door. On the rear hatch on the LS1 cars it had Firebird on it BUT the bird was different a little bit. It was just an outline from what Ive been able to figure out.
Here's the latest (and hopefully last) updates. If anyone finds errors in these or has questions, please let me know so I can correct them. Thanks for the patience.
