Default Camaro accessories while keeping VVT on L92

I have just completed my build of installing a L92 from a 2007 Escalade into my 97 240SX. I thought I would share what I had to do to keep the VVT on the motor and make the Camaro front accessory drive work. Since the cam cover is so thick due to the VVT solenoid you have to keep the truck crank pulley. So to make everything work use the following:

I hope that this might help some of you guys out. The .75" spacers were made from 1" aluminum bar stock machined by a friend of mine.

Here is a pic for reference during mockup:

Did you have a truck water pump to mock up? I'm curious what kind of clearance issues it had with the TB. Didn't someone say recently that they were able to dimple the tube in the truck water pump to make it work?

I do have a truck water pump but I needed the water line to come straight out so I never even tried mocking it up with it. This worked great and everything lined up perfect first time. It has seen some high RPMs and so far all works well.

I think Mast motorsports sells spacers for this same option (if you don't have the abilities to make them yourself).

Also, check the 2010 Camaro L99 water pump. It looks to use the truck crank pulley in order to space everything out to clear the cover for the VVT stuff. Part number is 19207665. I'll be ordering one next week to verify fitment.

That PS pulley is from Turn One IIRC. I missed out on one on ebay a few months ago. wazees.com makes billet ones, I'm going to order one from him later this week.

hey man, this is pretty helpful. I just got a Ly6 and Im wanting to run the L76 intake and I was confused about what to do with my accessories to get it to work. if you dont mind me asking, what intake is that you are running? and this may be a dumb question but when you say a car water pump or a corvette pulley, what exact camaro or corvette are you talking about, or does it matter? and are these parts that i can go get from my local advanced? thanks for the help

Just curious what oil pans you guys were using to keep the L92 VVT sensors in place and still do a swap? I am putting the L92 into a 68 Camaro. Lowered 2" so its even worse.

                      Thanks!

Any word on the L99 Camaro pump? If it works it would solve a lot of problems.

I am running a GTO pan. I don't have the oil level sensor hooked up but I am also not running a GM ECU. I am running a Mast Motorsports ECU.

                      Default Water pump

Just curious why you changed the water pump. I am currently trying to move the L92 Alt to Drivers side low (tucked in) and L92 PS to drivers top with LS conversion brackets. Both will need the spacers you spoke of (3/4")on the brackets to match the existing water pump but it looks doable. I just have to get some 5" X ?MM bolts.

PLEASE shoot holes in this theory before I spend useless money. For what its worth, these brackets are inexpensive $10-$20.

I will check out the GTO pan.

                      This thread is just awesome.

The truck water pump interferes with the throttle body and the outlets were in the wrong direction for my setup. It sounds like you want to put the alt and ps pump in the same locations as the F-body stuff. If you can find some brackets that will do that then go for it. Otherwise I would just sell the truck accessories and buy some F-body ones. Good luck with your swap.

1998 Camaro PS pump works with this. Just need to find the belt size you used. Can't read it from the photo.

Thanks! You saved me a bunch of time!

PS the truck idler wheel I hoped to use had to go. Its diameter is just to tight for belt clearance. Have a camaro one en route.

I'm not sure of the size but it is the stock size for the F-body setup. Just ask for a belt for a 2000 Camaro SS and you will be set.

The A/C compressor belt is the stock one for the truck.

the corvette tensioner? Why not a truck or f body tensioner? I know the truck acc are 3/4" out further than f body but I thought corvette were somewhere in the middle and that has me scratching my head as to how the vette piece works for you? Did you space it out from the block also? Finall is that a vette water pump or an f body pump? You only mentioned it as a car pump so I am trying to see a bit clearer what all you did.

                      Thanks a TON. Great thread
