Ill be ordering my 2010 2SS/RS M6 in March. Im leaving Texas for work, if not I would have already ordered it.
I've separated some $$ for headers, exhaust and CAI for when the car arrives. Ill be going with an MBRP 3" Cat back. Not sure on the CAI yet.
Im debating between SLP, American Racing Headers (ARH) and Kooks. I like the fact that SLP's headers come ceramic coated, ARH and Kooks are not. SLP's headers have 1 3/4" primaries. ARH and Kooks offer them in 1 3/4" and 1 7/8" primaries. Kooks has collectors to attach them to their X-pipe w/hi flow cats, SLP and ARH are slip fit with Clamps. My concern is exhaust leak with the slip fit/clamp headers. Im running pacesetter headers on my current truck and have them welded but im not sure about welding the camaro exhaust.
What do you all think? 1 3/4" or 1 7/8", what kind of power will the sizes yield over the other? SLP, ARH or Kooks?? Should Ceramic Coating be a big deciding factor in deciding what header to go with over primary tube size??
what about the finish on the headers? you think ceramic coating is worth paying more for, or getting the SLP coated, but @ 1 3/4"? also, if i go with 1 7/8, should i get the Kooks with the collectors or ARH slip fit?
I dont know about the collectors but Kooks make the best headers IMO. There fitment and quality is top notch. Someone told me once that ceramic coating on stainless steel is a waste of money. It doesnt hold the heat in as well as you think on SS and is mostly for looks, I might be wrong on this though.The SS is already holding most of the heat in and doesnt need any help. I do know it works great for mild steel.

I also found out that Kooks mid pipe goes from their 3" header outlets to 3" hi flow cat inlet to 2.5" outlet to fit 2.5" exhaust systems.... being that i had decided on a 3" MBRP exhaust, should i switch my decision?
Also, 1 7/8" headers to 2.5" catback... how would this set up compare to 1 3/4" headers to 3" outlet exhaust
or 1 7/8" headers to 3" catback or 1 3/4" headers to 2.5" exhaust?
Im going with the complete system from texas-speed next year when I get my 2010. Headers, orx and rumbler 5 cat-back 2 muffler system (basically two dynomax bullets). They are developing them right now.
I had lt's, orx, and true duals with dynomax bullets (just like rumbler catback) on my 98 and I absolutely loved the sound. A little loud for some could be the only downside. But for the sound, price, weight savings and performance I thought it was the best choice.
On a side note. I have always been against flowmaster. But recently I heard some clips of the flowmaster system on a 2010 and thought it sounded amazing. Im not sure how those mufflers would sound with an orx so its not for me.
If you are keeping cats and dont mind losing a tad bit of power using the flowmaster mufflers compared to another performance brand or a bullet (supposedly) I think it sounds awesome.
thanx for the info, ill be calling u all at maryland speed in a couple of weeks for info. the plan for my 2010 is a catback 3"MBRP, CAI, a set of headers (which is what i am currently undecided on that will work on the MBRP exhaust or if another exhaust would be recommended) and an ATI Procharger after about a year or so. perhaps a cam for the blower, depends on how i feel the car with the supercharger.
