Pardon me, beautiful vert, but why does it have SS 396 on the grill and RS badging on the fender.
RS was a trim package, any car could have it. It's a RS/SS 396
Also, why does this car (looks to be a 67) have a 68 RS grill?
doesnt look chrome to me.
And why sombrereo caps vs flat caps?
a wheel option. there were at least 4 (wire hubcaps included believe it or not)
that's an original sales ad.. you're nitpicking it as if it was modded? wtf?
i'll probably pick up a new camaro once they're available and i've graduated college in 2 yrs.. I know the interior wont look like that, and it'll have plenty of power, and the exterior is HOT. I dont see it as being very retro..
Although WET1's pic seems to have expired allow me to reply:
1. RS was a trim package that utilized it's own badging unless it was also an SS, in which case the SS badging would have superceded the RS badging on the fenders.
2. The 67 and 68 RS grill's are very similar (AAMOF they interchange), with the 68 having chrome on the front while the 67 is flat black. It could have been a reflection, but I thought it looked chrome (i.e., 68....see 3 below).
3. 1967 was the only year for what is called the "flat cap" which is the hub cap (or lug nut cover in reality) for the rally wheel. 1968 had a similar style with a larger protrusion in the middle. These are refered to as "sombrero caps". This car (a 67 due to the lack of side light markers and the wing window) had the latter. And you are correct as there were several different hubcap options (SS and simulated wire wheels as well as a "mag" style which the last 67 I sold had), none of which were available with the disc (sic) brake option. Disc brake rally wheels were different from drum brake rally wheels also. FWIW: SS cars didn't automatically get disc brakes. Disc brakes (J52) and/or vacuum power (J50) were both an option. Only cars to get mandatory disc brakes were Z28's (J56).
I didn't mean to nitpick really, but having had 6 67's (all of which were RS or RS/SS cars, one of which I still have - a highly optioned RS/SS 396 car), 2 68's and 2 69's in the last 33 years I think I know what I'm looking at (at least where 67's are concerned). Anybody can do what they want with their own car. Just cuz I might not like it doesn't mean it shouldn't be done. I'm just more of a purist, at least where fairly rare cars (big block RS/SS vert - ain't many survivors left) are concerned.

I took a number of pictures and a few short movie clips of this Camaro. It looks better in person than in the pictures. Go to: http://www.BowlingSS.com
Im gonna buy a used one after about the 3rd yr out. that'll prolly be the only way I could afford one. You know GM or the dealership or whoever is gonna try to kill you. Have you seen the prices on used T/A's as of right now.

According to Motor Trend there will be a drop top edition coming out. But reading the article, it appears to be misleading because it stated that the coupe was coming out this year. Maybe I just read that article wrong the 15x I read it to ensure I was reading correctly. Needless to say is that I want one and am getting one. I hope it has some serious power though

I'll buy one. Not the first one though but after they correct all the bugs out of the first model and of course find 10-15 hp the next year or so I'll get one.
