By all means I am glad they brought it back.I just don't like it. It just says "land yaht, with big wheels" to me.Not "lets burn some rice and tame some mustangs!"

When the lucky few drive their 2009 Camaro down the road I'll bet the car is noticed from those folks going the other direction.

There is alot of interest in the new Camaro. I love the question, when did they stop making those? Unfortunately, I think the car is dumed. There just aren't enough of us out there for the car to have much future.

The general mentality of America isn't thinking performance vehicles. Yesterday USA Today published an article titled Cars Trucks with impact. They picked 25 autos that piqued their interest over the past 25 years. In my opinion they wasted a whole damn page. I haven't seen anyone say anything about these cars here. GM Impact, PT Cruiser, Aztek, Hyundai Excel, Taurus. I knew I wouldn't like the article when I saw their #1 pick was a 1992 Toyota Camry. A 1990 Mazda Miata did make the list. It also would have been on mine. I am looking for a Jet Pac I can strap to my back and fire myself 12 miles down the road to work.

You do know its not gonna come from the factory with those huge wheels right??

Weight is honestly gonna be at least 3700, but it will also have over 400 hp so it balances out. Plus you can always take weight out, so the weight doesnt really bother me.

Not really feeling the new Camaro either it is big and bulky, the nose comes to a very very sharp point and its just blah. Ford hit it good with the mustang and so has dodge with that new challenger.

And for 3700lb arent things suppose to be lighter 40 years from 1969?????????

It's clear that some of you have not seen the car in person yet.

It may appear big, because of the height of the belt line.
It is actually 7 inches shorter than a 4th gen.

Very sharp point on the nose?
Hardly, it's not any sharper of a point than the 1st Gen.

And yes, obviously the 21 and 22-inch wheels won't be on the production car.

Weight will be probably slightly higher than the 4th Gen.
...we discussed all the details on weight in the other thread.

If America isn't buying sporty cars, then how did 166,000 Mustangs sell in 2006?

True. But you have to remember they're packing in so much more stuff into the cars nowadays then back then. Nicer interior parts: air bags, nicer cushier seats etc. Bigger breaks, suspension, etc...

I think the biggest problem with the Camaro will be that "retro" is already starting to get really old, and the car isn't even out yet.

By the time the car is actually for sale, the majority of people will never want to see another retro car again.

How did 166,000 Mustangs sell in 2006? Do your numbers show how many of these were retail, not fleet? I see your point but I am not ready to throw ALL MUSTANGS into a sporty car category. There are hundreds of cars and trucks that out perform the base Mustang. Ford advertises the hell out of the Mustang. The Mustang outsold the F's 5 to one over the last ten years before GM retired the car. If GM sells 60,000 total new 2009 F's how long will it last? If GM sells 166,000 new F's, each year, how long will it last?

I wish the car well. I have folks interested in the product. Unfortunately, I think they might just be going into the wind again. We need the new 2009 F to draw attention to our other products.

I saw the car in person this weekend and I did not like it nearly as much as in the pictures. I'm not saying it is ugly, but it did not really jump out at me as a car I must have. Something was just not right with the proportions front to rear. Maybe it was because it was in a room with 67-69 Z28s and I compared it against them. I guess it will have to grow on me.

as long as gm sticks with the plan and produces a camaro like the one in your sig, then i dont think there will be any probs.

I agree. While they definitely will sell A LOT of 5th Gen Camaro's, that retro look just isn't for me.
