You have to have something to turn it off or the RPM cut will occur every time you achieve that RPM point. This is basically what happens when you use the device as just a spark based RPM limiter (and connect the yellow wire directly to the green wire).
So for it to be used as a launch controller it has to be connected to some type of switch to disable it - clutch switch, brake switch, manual switch etc.
