Does your engine have the foul air tube coming out the front of the valley cover ?

Fresh filtered air into the valve cover, from either the Throttle body port or from the fresh air tube after the MAF.

Blank off any outlet ports on the rear of the valve covers.

Anywhere between the front of the throttle body blade and the MAF will do.

Ideally it should be air thats been "metered" by the MAF, since that same volume of air ends up in the intake manifold once it has swooped thru the valve covers and valley.

what about PCV valve? and I like that setup, nice and clean/simple, is that valley cover pictured a LS2 on a LS1?

No it's probably an LS6 in that pic.
Just about all the engines made after about 2002 do not have an external PCV valve like the LS1 had.

LS2/LS3/LS6/LS7 all have a baffle arrangement under the valley cover and use that instead of an external valve.

Some of them have a sightglass on the outside of the can so you can see how full they are. Down worry about that.

Its to aid in filtering any extra oil that builds up before the air is sent back to the manifold. Not needed on most builds if you are running ls6 valley cover or newer (aka just NOT the stock ls1 setup) but extra added insurance. Most people have the cans prior to updating their valley cover so they keep it there. Hope that helps.
