Default Guide - How to change you gauge lights to LEDs - Guide

I know there are guides already out there but I had a hard time finding one with pictures specifically for the gauges. So I decided to make guide for it. Its my first time making one so be easy on me.

I trust www.superbrightleds.com they make good products and ship fast. So I will be using them for referance to where you should get your LEDs.

Here is what you need:

- 8 WLED-xHP6 Wedge Base Bulb (You can use 5 to light them but I used all 8. Also this is where you choose the color you want).

-Sockets (I used size 7 in metric for everything)

-Torx drivers

Okay first thing unscrew the two screw in the upper dash.

Next you dont have to take these off but I did to make it alot easier pulling everything off. The tilt **** just screws out and the plastic piece under it just pops off. Be gently with plastic piece the prongs on it seem like they could break easily.

Once you have those off pop off the inside dash part. Then you will see 4 screws holding the gauges in. Take those off also and then you will need to seperate the clear guard from the gauges. The clear guard is attatched by 4 tabs. Just push down and gently pull. You can pull the gauges out towards you to move them around to get to all the tabs easier.

Once you have the clear guard pull the entire gauge panel out. Dont worry it just pops out. Turn it to the back and youll see the 8 twist sockets for the LEDs.

This part you dont really have to but I did to twist the bulb socket out easily. There are to torx screws and then tabs around outside keeping the black gaurd on. Take the screws out and pull the tabs back carefully to take the black gaurd off.

Next is where you change your bulbs to the LEDs. Twist the bulb socket out and pull the bulb out and replace it with your LEDs. Do this for all eight. Dont put everything back together yet! Plug the gauges back in to check that all of them light up. If not take the bulb socket back out and turn the LED around and try again. After everything is working good. Replace everything the way it was and there you go! New lights!

That looks sweet and I would like to change to blue leds. Has anyone done this? Is it possible or is there a red film in there to create the red glow that wont work with the blue bulbs. Also what bulb number do we need on that site? I searched that site and it is the most difficult thing I have seen in a while. Can you link to exactly what you bought?

Thanks

Mike

The bulb size is 194. And with stock gauges as well as the McNord gauges (ones shown) you can use blue LEDs... The bulb he used is the only one that has that look on that site... The ones he used are actually the very top one on this link.

Feel free to delete the link if its against the rules..

What color does the rest of your interior light up? I think if you dont do red that white would look badass...

Stock has a dimmer to adjust the brightness level to your liking. This is just an incomplete solution to people changing crap just to change it. Whatever floats your boat.
