Default 'Trust's New Car: Got myself a virgin!

Well now the T/A is gone I wanted to find a suitible replacement. I've been trying to think for a long time what a great base would be for a good all around street car. Had to be lighter than the T/A, decent cubes (IMO), 6 speed, 2 door. I was stuck between a C6 and a GTS Viper. The C6 was great all around except for 2 things, they are extremely common, and unlike the GTS they are not forged motors, which is huge since I want to make 650-700RWHP. After weighing it all out the GTS was my best option. Here is a pic of the one I just picked up. Flew out to Florida Friday, stayed the night, and drove 20 hours back to Oklahoma Sat. morning, I just got home.

I have some 17" CCW Classics coming in for it for now until I can get some bigger wheels, I got them for a steal though.

Very general info:

1997 GTS Viper
Stock except for a short shifter
27k (big plus for me)

Here it is the first time I put gas in it before I headed back from FL, I'll get more pics up today after I nap and clean it, I haven't slept in 24 hours.

DISCLAIMER: I'm not saying this is the best all around base period, just what was within my budget. I think the ideal start off base would be a Gallardo or a Murcielago.

So, the new project begins!

I think those Vipers have more character and are more head-turning than any of the newer ones personally. Best years IMO and you got the best color combo. Great score!

****** nice man. I have always loved that body style with that exact same paint. Still wish you could have kept the T/A though, LOL.

OMG what happened to your Bird? I had a viper, i HATED it. It was an rt/10 though. Nothing about the car could compare to the cabin noise. I would always think to myself "if it were just a GTS!!!"

I like your Viper, like the TA better. Did you sell it? Bummer, it be nice to have them both. What are your plans for this one? Are you doing anything inside teh car? Because i think thats the cars weakest point. 97 is post-center exhaust right?

A few suggestions from myself, just imo. I have always wondered what it would look like to black out the cross hair on the front bumper, and to black out everything between the top of the spoiler, down to the rear bumper kind of like a big berger. But i dont think that would work with a blue and white car lol!
Check this viper out its for sale locally, note the interior

Good luck man. I was thinking about picking up the T/A you had for sale, but I'd have to go through the trouble of selling the hawk and laziness prevailed.

Now, go build that beast.

Thumbs up

Nice GTS Trust!!! When you start modding, there is a guy in town here in St. Louis that is amazing with tuning/building those cars. Let me know if you need his info.

Thanks guys. I do miss the T/A, but I honestly don't 'regret' it. There wasn't much further I could have gone with it while still keeping it a street car. I was on that fine line between race car and street car, and to make it any faster would have pushed me over. I'm excited about the new project.

The interior will definitely get an over haul, nothing crazy, just updated a little. I want everything to be mostly reversible just in case I want to sell it. Initially the car will probably get a 200 shot, because it is SLOW. We are going to get it on the dyno this week for a base line, but the end result will most likely be a Roe supercharger setup at 10psi and a 100-150 shot for the extra should I need it. From what I have found, the 'Viper Tax' only really applies to exhaust/intake mods, the headers etc. are expensive, but the supercharger setup etc. is the same as it is for an fbody, which is nice!

Thanks man, means a lot coming from your tastes. I don't want to sound like that delusional owner that just because I have a 1988 Accord that it is better looking than the newest model. However, I do really like the Gen II bodystyle, I love the new one also, but I have a soft spot for this style too.

Honestly it isn't *that* expensive. You can find tons for $30k and less. Here, check these out:

too many miles on this one for me, but a good deal:

No pic on this one:

This one is very well priced, but only 96-99 had forged motors, so it was out for me:

I may have to get that from you, I have some basic questions. I.e., what do I need as far as tuning wise (I hear VEC III) to get a bottle on this for now? Then other random things, I'd like to hit them up.
