Default Hood latch cable relocation...

Has anyone ever done this before? I just did it a couple days ago.

After my header install, I did the passenger side wire mod. Since I removed the AIR system, it just seemed like a no-brianer to do this as well to completely clean up the drivers side of the engine bay as well.

Lemme tell ya, it's a cinch to do... there's already a hole to string the cable through, just gotta make it a little bigger.

I took some pics, found here:
http://www.camarohighway.com/Files/M.../HoodCableMod/
(yes I know the car is filthy...)

I was thinking about doing a write-up, but the process is pretty much self-explanatory if you understand the wire mod.

Here's a pic of the finished product:

Clean...looks like I just added something else to the "to-do" list...

Do you get any bind in the cable from the sharp turn it makes into the new hole?

It's easy to do, the hardest part is getting the cable out of the metal bracket by the hood latch. Needle nose pliers does the trick though.

The only part about it that bugs me it's the paint is rubbed off a little bit from where the cable was, but that's not enough to make me wish I hadn't done it.

Still haven't driven the car yet, but I'm sure I'll have a code for it.

And I'll also be throwing a code for the missing cats, and the missing rear O2 sensors... my PCM is gonna throw so many SES codes, it's gonna want a "WTF?" light, LOL.

A couple easy edits in the PCM will take care of it all.

Just did this mod this afternoon. The wire mod is on the agenda for tomorrow, and hopefully removal of the AIR system, if things go well.

Damn, dude, you sound like me! My damn SES light has been on for about three years now for the rear driver O2 sensor!

Very good mod to do. I put a little twist on mine. Drilled a new hole near the other one and finished it off with a rubber grommet. Looks very nice.

Wow, interesting name ya got there pal! It might take a little research, but you could probably find some sort of electric popper. Hell, if you can find kits for door poppers, a hood popper shouldn' t be that hard to find.
