Each individual will have their own opinions about what looks good on the car they have. Me personally wouldn't buy a Firebird/Formula without the W68 kit because I think the bottom of the car is too rounded off. A Camaro on the other hand looks good without any ground effects kits, but they DO look different and good with em. Someone mentioned scraping earlier. I scrape mine all the time (no matter how hard I try not to), but I had some metal pieces cut and shaped for me that I'll put on the bottoms of the front pieces. This is yet another reason I wouldn't lower my car...if I did, it'd be the actual bumper scraping the pavement! Here's a pic of my 02 W68 Firebird. Swat
rice simply refers to when cars have been tooo dressed up cosmetically to try and stand out, such as neon lighting, excessive body kits, alteezas, wings, angled fart cans, decals, etc. Body kits, when done tastefully, as in the picture above can improve the look and stance of a car. We all respect fast cars; I guess it is aggravating when people spend all of that money for cosmetic shit with no motor improvements and they think their car is the shit and fast when in fact, they are not. Rice is those who are all show and no go.
I will agree to disagree. Some cars go into car shows and would you say the chrome and mirrors people put on there is rice FTW are you saying that F1 cars, some drag, GT cars or drift cars are rice because they have some of those things on their cars??? I think if you put non-functional useless things for what you are doing with the car is rice ex. a front wheel drive car with a spoiler. Yes I did cosmetic stuff first because that was getting done when I was in the Middle East and decided to get a motorcycle but you don't know people's situation for doing what they do. Then again you need to remember 1 sticker = 10hp

It wasn't directed at any certain person, your right I reacted a little to extreme but peoples feelings tend to get a little tested. I understand that it is a way to describe something but think about the root meaning. There are plenty of words for other races used to describe things and people don't dare to use these types of words on the site. why should rice be aloud to be so freely used. It just seems to me that if all your going to reply on is a one word answer saying rice just don't type it at all. I realize it wasn't mentioned alot or with hate in this thread but have seen it in so many other threads that it just builds up. with that said let me give this guy his thread back and and I wasn't jumping on anyone paticular person.
because to me and a shit load of other people look at rice like bein veiwed as Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancement so go figure that out and get back to me cause the whole rice bein construed as japan and all that is stupid everything that comes from japan is considered JDM NOT RICE!!!!!!

"A musclecar, by definition, is a powerful and sporty vehicle that must be able to spin its tires at will. The Firebird Trans Am is capable of laying down twin black streaks of rubber several hundred feet long. We wanted to be sure it could, so we did it a half dozen times in the name of automotive science." -Motor Trend
