Default [How-To/Write Up] Changing the Color of Your Halo Headlights

Ok, here is the writeup.

You will need adobe acrobat or something similar to read the PDF file, it was the easiest way to format it and still not take a day of writing HTML. The writeup is a large file, approximatly 376kb. If you are on a 56k this could take a bit to download.

You can get acrobat reader here .

The Writeup!

If you have any questions or suggestions on how to make the writeup better, post them up and I'll answer or modify accordingly.

Happy Modding!

i think its only a matter of time before somebody paints the halo housing (prolly has been done but ive never seen it) i think it could look really badass... kinda like the c6 vette lights.....hmmmm i might be onto something.. its like the super !whistler mod.. no its the !presto_mod...

Forgive me for sounding ignorant, but what's the resistor there for? The halo didn't originally have a resistor on it, did it?

When you install any LED into a car, chances are that that LED's opperating voltage will be ~2-4 volts. If you install it without a resistor the 12volts from the car will overpower the LED and burn it out. Chances are they original setup had resistors somewhere, like in that black box the article talked about.

Anywho, great write up!

Awesome write up! Would it be the same process pretty much to change the color of a halo in a TA fog light??

Thanks!

As for the halos on the fog light I'm not sure I have the normal TA fogs in mine, but if you want to send me some halos I'll be more than happy to report back with a yes or no

Well, the only reason I didn't do one was out of laziness. Didn't take pictures of how I did it the first time around, but however I really wasn't wanting to take it all apart and do it a second time. It can be time consuming for sure, but as far as simplicity....You can do it!

As far as write up. NICE! That was how I envisioned doing it too. Excellent job.

However, I didn't see anything about the resistors in case you need to replace the wres.

nope.

we also learned that the halo's are GM headlights with black inserts(thats all)the halo is part of the black insert.i guess thats why they hold up good.
