hot cam in a LS1?
Let me go ahead and sum up for you... you'll get two different kinds of responses to this question, and here they are:
YES - Hot cam is a great budget cam, low cost, easy on springs, has a lopey idle, makes good power in the low to mid RPM range with a flat torque curve.
NO - There are much better cams on the market as the Hot cam is an archaic design with slow ramp rates, and it's idle quality isn't very good compared to bigger newer cam designs that allow for a better idle AND more power. However you will pay a little more for those cams, but hey you gotta pay to play.
There... hopefully that'll cover it and it'll save you a bunch of reading.

I think I'm one of the few people on here who actually like it. Decent power gains all across the band, nice lopey idle, and it drives pretty well. Tuning is a must though. Good for a daily driver, but if you're looking to go to the track alot I might suggest something bigger.
I have it and love it also nice lopie sound produced great number with my long tube headers--see sig---but will most likely change it as I want to get more hp/tq along with some new heads..unless I find some heads that will compliment the cam...
