Default LS2 oil pan in F-bods - will it fit?

LS2 oil pan does not have the wings on it like the LS1/6 Corvette oil pan. Also has been improved to control oil when roadracing/autocrossing. Anybody do a test fit yet? Inquiring minds want to know!

Hi All: If you use the Ls2 pan on an Ls1 dont you also need to change the pickup tube and windage tray also? Can some verify this and post part number and price. Maybe some one on this board who works in parts could measure a pan and post a drawing with all the dimensions. The reason I ask is this information would beenfit the conversion and hybrid people. By looking at the pictures of an Ls2 engine it looks like this pan would fit older A, Gbody and 1st Gen Camaros without modification. Thanks

I think I am going with the LS2 pan on my LS2 stroker.
Worse that can happen is that I have to put the LS1 pan back on. I should be doing the install right before Christmas, so I will let you know.

I assume there is a GTO/CTS pan and a different C6?

Heck of a good question....GTO, SSR, and C6 are all using the new block....not the CTS-V yet however.

The current (LS1) GTO has a different pan, as it has a front sump (kooky, I know, but it has a "rear steer" suspension on the front).

I know nothing about the VTS-V pan.

Let's see..

12581810 - C6 LS2 pan: has shallow rear sump
12579723 - SSR/Trailblazer 5.3L and LS2 pan: has front sump with hole for 4wd front axle shaft to pass through
12581209 - GTO LS1 and LS2 pan: has front sump
12577901 - CTS-V LS6 pan: has deep rear sump

Each pan has it's specific oil pickup screen that must be used with it when swapping oil pans.

What is the depth of the LS2 front pan? Is it the same 1-2 inch we have in the LS1. If so it should be able to fit.

As I say I am going to try it on my LS2 motor in my 98 Camaro and that is firming up for Christmas delivery.

I didn't use the LS2. I was worried that it might be deeper in the front part of the pan and not clear the crossmember.

My motor is sitting on the motor stand, so I can measure the front pan depth easily. If maybe Kris or someone can measure the depth of the front of the LS2 pan, we might know the answer.
