| Best clutch for the LS1? I am about ready to get a better clutch, this stock 02 clutch is not holding up to the abuse. What clutch is recommended for the LS1's? BTW I am a former A4 guy so please keep the responses clean.

| Re: Best clutch for the LS1? shit. damn. opps sorry, you said clean. The new McLeod iron disk is promising, as well as the Ram system. As for price, I have no idea on the McLeod, but you can piece together the RAM for about 300 bucks without a flywheel or asjustable master--which you will need either way. If it were me Id do one of two things: a) Ram clutch and PP with DIY adj master and stock flywheel - about $300-350; or b) McLeod or Ram with McLeod's adjustable master and a nice aftermarket aluminum flywheel - probably upwards of $700 or so. Although, those may not me the most driveable clutches. The Cartek is complete, and very strong, yet driveable. Tony uses it.

Ask Harlan about his Ram setup. You can get less aggressive pressure plates, and disks from Ram too.

It's in NJ. www.cartek.com
it will put up with all your abusive non-warrantyable driving and not complain once.
is that really a word? heh....
bottom line: trust me on this one.

| Re: Best clutch for the LS1? I'm using the Mcleod sintered iron setup and have been very happy for it. It is still in the testing phases and will be marketed as a "Race only" setup. You can drive it on the street, but it does take awhile to learn how to redrive the car. It doesn't bother me since I know it holds at the track. Pricing should be very comparble to the STAR/SPEC setups, if not cheaper.

| Re: Best clutch for the LS1? all I can tell you is that there are no Ram clutch failures yet (knock on wood) and many 1.5 second 60' times on a few cars.
McLeod is crap as far as I am concerned (no offense to anyone) just because of their past history with me. Cartek seems to be working for most people and from what I have heard and read Star / Spec stinks as well.
Remember tho' that the clutch is a wear item, if you are putting down 400 plus rwhp expect about 10-15k out of your clutch.

| Re: Best clutch for the LS1? Good Point...the more you beat it the sooner its gone...
I like to hear about all the people on ls1.com saying "well I need a new clutch"
and then you ask "how many miles are on the stock one"
they respond "55,000"

You can really pick apart the people who baby their cars...

Yep, it's an option
I'm running the beefy PP and the metalic puck disc. Holds my setup quite nicely.
We recently put the same plate and less agressive disc into IndyZ28's '01. It's no where near as chattery as mine, and he's cutting 1.7's on 5k dumps w/ it. Running 12.0x's with minimal mods. His stocker would just slip on the ET's before the new clutch.
For less than $350 you can't beat it

whats the less agressive disc part #?? also what are the part #'s for the PP and the agressive disc....is IndyZ28 useing the stock flywheel also??
Thanks
Jay
