Default Hays LS1 Clutch... anyone tried it yet???

Hays just started making a clutch for the LS1. I've always trusted Hays and the price looks good, $259 at Jegs. Is anyone here running one or herd any stories about it?

One of my friend's in New Orleans was running one (1FastPewterZ). He told me it was grabbing well. Not sure how it is doing now as he is building a new motor for the car.

didn't have it in a Z, but had one behind my 396 powered '69 chevelle pushing 450 to the rear, and it held great. wasn't abused at the track often, but still abused slightly on the street. it's lasted a couple years last time i talked to current owner. hope this helps somewhat, and i can't imagine the materials being used are that much different.

Friend installed one today, and is having trouble getting it to release.

Anyone with any advice on this, please help.

Hays has been making the LS1 clutch system for over a year now, I personally only know of several people that have used it, but from what I have heard its a really good peice of equipment that is very well made...and a STEAL at the price they are charging. If you are going to install it yourself..go ahead and get it...if it grenades your only out $250...compared to like $750 with other clutches.

Let me guess...you used the stock Master Cylinder and hydraulics correct?
If so, get an adjustable MC now and a new slave if yours has over 5k miles on it. Do the drill mod while the MC is out and you'll be golden.
Call Cartek or Thunder Racing(McLeod adj MC).
Stock hydraulics and aftermarket clutches do not mix!

Not me, Not my car, just my customer. I am saving money for a Centerforce D.F. My friend with the SS probably did use his stock MC and Slave, so I'll relay this message to him and get him something ordered quickly!

thanks Dustin!

I tried a Hays and it is slipping like crazy after only 2 months. I will never put another one in.

Look at your mods? Seems crazy you would think a 250 dollar clutch would hold up to them things. Espeically if your using NOS? come on.

I'm sure on a stock car, this would last a while if properly installed.
