As I think I have said before. Any of the sponsors here can build you a great trans. Look at what each offers and decide. but really you cannot go wrong from what I have seen on this forum in the past 2 years

Thought I'd chime in. I have JUST the level 2 4L60E from Performabuilt. I have a GTO with a 416ci LS3 putting down 504/491 all motor. It's an NA car so the tranny sees that power all the time. I daily drive the car with this power and this tranny.

First time out at the track I ran 10.98@126. I go to the track quite often and do some roll racing. The tranny is right at home with the power. I also lockup my converter at WOT. I have removed all the torque management from the tune. The tranny just keeps on keeping on. It shifts awesome. Smooth and subtle at part throttle and hold on at full throttle. It shifts so fast and crisp at wot I can't even tell it shifts from 1-2 gear. I daily drive with drag radials on the car so traction is already there. With the tranny in the car I cut 1.58 60 foots on street tire drag radials all day long and I'm just fine. One day I may put on a 100 shot if I get brave enough. Either way, you can't go wrong with Frank's customer service and PERFORMABUILT's trannies.

Thanks to everyone who posted for us here. It just shows me we " MUST BE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT" and thanks for the personal compliments too . I do my very best at all time. I love what I do. My full time job is customer service and tech support. In my experience this is something most companies consider something there regular work in the shop employees should do in there spare time. Here we think yes having a great product is a must and YES IMO WE DO AND HAVE PROVEN IT. But customer service and having some one there when you need them is also a MUST and thats what I am here for.

I've ran this trans/converter for 2yrs with well over a hundred nitrous passes and close to 200 on motor, none yet on the turbo since its a new addition but I called Vince today and we are already planning an 80E to go behind the new bored 6L...

The truck weighs right around 4000lbs raceweight.

Do yourself a favor and go with an 80E to begin with and save money down the road and a lot of headache... Coming from someone who knows
I can't wait to see the new project.

Just keep it cool and keep an eye on fluid life and it will keep you happy.

Plenty of info on performancetrucks.net as far as the swap goes. Kysilverado has done a recent KICK ASS DETAILED write on the swap if it is somethign you feel you could tackle yourself.
Good advise.

If you pay for just ONE extra broken 4L60E (which I can almost guarantee that you will), you could have paid for the 4L80E swap and still had money in your pocket. Trust me....if I painted tranny kills on the side of my truck like fighter pilots do, you wouldn't be able to see much blue left over. I think my tally was 6 4L60E's and now two 4L80E's.

This time around I decided to go with a FLT level 5 4L80E because I personally believe that they are the best choice available. I don't know a lot about the others, but I'm sure that they would be good choices too.
IIRC you went through a couple 80's before converting to the FLT unit. Last I hedumdumdum you were loving it!

That would be why I advised it!

Just a update we have billet input shafts in stock for all 4l60e transmissions. This includes the 4l70e as well. Here is the picture of the new input shaft for the 4l70e and also the new billet piston we are using on all level 4 or higher builds.

Just an update.
My personal car has the FLT tranny in it and it's a bracket car.Car is very consistant and shifts dead on every run.No problems.
A good friend of mine runs the FLT too and has nothing but good to say. This is after running 3-4 tranny's with various problems from another shop.

I agree with being negative but when you have personal experience with any product that has issue's you can voice your opinion.
