Default What lenght shifter cable should I get

Well I FINALLY got the TH400 in the car and drove it around " Open Header" today and I must say that I am soooo glad to have switched from the M6 to the A3 for racing purposes. Well the first problem is that I thought I had the shifter cable routed in such a way that it would be safe from heat. WRONG! After driving for a little bit I noticed that the car didn't want to go into 3rd gear. After checking I could see that the shifter cable is done!

The cable that came with the transmission I believe was a 6ft cable. That seemed to be a lot of cable. I see that I can get a new cable for my B&M hammer from autozone. They offer the cable in different lenghts. Which one should I get. 3feet, 4feet, 5,feet or get the 6 feet again. Thanks for all the input.
