ive looked into swapping out my 3200 stall for a ss4000 but how is daily driving with a stall that size? im sure it doesnt feel close to stock..lol.
It's not terrible driving it, just imagine 22-2500 RPMS to get going good. The gas mileage will suffer greatly. Going up any incline and you'll need to hit about 3k to gain acceleration up it.

Man that aint shit, who cares about gas mileage anyway? Stalled auto are fun as shit to drive. Once you get used to it if someone offered you a stock stall back + $$$, no way in hell you would take it.
Yeah we seem to be getting slightly different opinions on this matter. Any decent 4K converter should kill all dead spots in your power band so that leads me to believe it should be pretty good from a roll.

id like to see how much faster people went with going from a smaller converter to a bigger one? im happy with my setup. just wondering if im gonna go that much faster for a street car.

the SS4000 like many have said is a great all around converter. drives a little on the loose side around town, but not bad for being a 4000.
cut 1.53 60' times w/ a 100 shot, 16" drag radials, 3.23 gears - spraying on a button after hitting on motor.
i switched to an SS3600 because i upped to a 150 shot and wanted to leave on the button.
on motor, that was a HUGE difference - i would estimate a few tenths addition in 1/4 ET. but leaving on spray, the car went 1.43 60' on 26" drag radials, and 1.41' on 26" slicks. (still with that stock 3.23 gear'd 10 bolt).

I am thinking about getting a stickier tire. Sounds like an awesome setup to me. What was your final ET?
Mods are basically the 100 shot, SS4000 and bolt-ons? What suspension was done?

my vig 3600 has takin my H/C/I 346ci camaro 1.60 short 11.2 @119 mph thats a 7.1 1/8 mile i'm thinking about going to the SS4000 but i'm also plaining to spray more its a nitrous set up anyway like 238/240 .647/.608 111LSA cam specs .....
i have 2 moser complete axles one with 3.70gears and the other with 4.11 gears and the 4.11 gears really tightened up the stall i had to hold the brake tight at red lights lol it slowed up the short times to 1.65s so i'm thinking of also going to a little taller tire as well to give it more stall as well
so new set up will be the SS4000 with 3.70 gears and 28 tall tires i'm hoping it will cut some 1.45s or quicker but only time will tell the car was dynoed at speed inc. at 449RWHP

On my current car I went from a vig3200 to a pt4400. I went from 1270s to 1230s.

I can't believe some of you girls saying your 4000 is too lose around town. I'd put a ss4400 in it if you're going to go through the trouble of swaping them out.

I was really thinking about getting an SS3600, but I've read enough in this thread that I think I'll step up to the SS4000 once I get a stall.
What kind of gains are people seeing going from stock stall to the SS4000 on a bolt on car? I'd get a cam for the car eventually. Also are most of you guys running your stock tranny or a built one?
