Default car will not come out of park !!!!

i was driving home from work and on the highway my torque arm bushing that is on the transmission ripped and started to hit the under body of the car every time i went over a bump. as soon as i got home i parked the car and fixed the torque arm and looked for broken wires around there and everything looked good, but when i started the car up, pressed the brake pedal and tried to shift, it does not let me

can somebody please point me in the right direction ?

damn, i dont know why it would do that when the battery is off. Id pull the handle off, just the leather and button part of it, theres a c clip in the middle of the handle, just pry it off and the handle will come off. see if something just isnt caught in there. thats about all I can tell you. I have no idea why it would do it when the cars getting power.

My 98 Z28 will give me a hard time every morning and if the car sits for a while; the button on the top of the shifter won't depress easily. In order to get it to work I have to hit the button with palm pretty hard to get it to go in and then its fine. I wonder if removing the solonoid will fix this?

Also FYI if you pull up to a curbstone to hard it will torque lock which means you'll have difficulty putting it in gear.
