Default 4l80e Crank Spacer

I have a 4l80e in my fbody. The bottom picture is my ls1, i attached the 4l80e to it without the spacer and it worked fine. I have heard people say you need it, the top picture has it. Would you remove the crank spacer? Any thoughts? Maybe this is just for trucks....

If you use a truck converter leave it. If you have a custom built converter for the LS1 flexplate (spacerless) take it off.

Sounds like only if you buy a truck converter you would need it. I would say no.
