Default Put the car in park a little too quick?

Tonight I parked my car in a snow packed alley and when i put it in park, i heard a loud rattling sound. I thought I had came to a stop, but maybe my back tires were still spinning a little from going through the snow? Have any of you ever done this? Just curious if I might have messed anything up in the tranny? TIA!

Iv done it a couple times. Next time you drive it just pay attention to the way it shifts. It never hurt mine.

I drove it for a little bit afterward, and everything shifted and felt normal.

it ussually doesnt hurt anything the noise you heard was the park pawl ratcheting against the reaction carrier lugs on the rear planet set as long as the wheels didnt lock up usually it doesnt hurt anything...on the ford c-6 transmission after a rebuild this is how you make it shift right...lol throw it in park at about 15 mph after that it shifts right

I did, but I had just got done spinning through a bunch of snow. So I don't know if the tires were still spinning because of that, or if I just shoved it in park a little too soon, before i actually got stopped. I thought I did get stopped but maybe not.

I did that same thing in my A4 Formula about a year ago. I heard the grinding noise, but the trans still shifts fine and the park position will still hold the car, but I always put the parking brake on just in case the parking pawl was weakened and gives so the car won't roll away.

Yea did it one time in mine as well. It was completely fine, but I wouldn't make a habit of it.
