Turns out that the harness that TCI provided was wired wrong (imagine that!). The speedometer is still acting up as it will stay on 0 under moderate acceleration until you let off the gas. Then it jumps up to where it needs to be. Any ideas?

Well no actually I do not have any ideas. That is interesting.

Does it report the proper speed under light throttle?

You can also just re-pin the 4l80 harness and save a lot of money. Its only 2 wires that need to be switched. You can go to a junk yard and get a vss sensor and a couple of pins for the pcm as well. Ill post up the correct pins to swap..

You also need the lokar dipstick to be a 36" if you want it to fit well, the part number from lokar is TD34L80FM36

Yes it reads correctly normally. I also found that to be very unusual.

Anybody have any idea what the thread size for the cooler lines into the trans are? can you just use a regular fitting or does it have to protrude into the case??

Let's get a new thread going on this subject. I was in a customers '05 GTO just yeaterday morning after we installed on of our 3,200 stall converters. My technician was driving and I was riding, I watched the gauges and noticed that on hard acceleration his speedo dropped same as yours does. When the throttle was released at the end of the pull the Speedo reported properly and continued to thereafter.

It was a one time event for me, but I saw it myself. I did not have any data logging info on the car and knew the PCM needed to be adjusted for the new converter so I did not get too excited about it at the time. I told the cust to stay in touch and let me know if it persists after the tune.

You can buy your own custom fittings if you choose.

If im not mistaken the rear fitting needs to proturde into the housing about 1-2in. Thats why its longer.

If its the one thats goes near center of case and its a late model which if the fitting is located there it is. Then yes it has to have the little exstention into case, You will have to use the original fitting

What you experienced is exactly what has happened to me. I'll start a new thread. Thanks for your input.

really... I have an 01 80e that has the cooler lines split one up front and 1 in back. The rear fitting was about an inch into the case.

right now im using other fitting that do not go into the case that far.. What potential damage will this cause?

Okay my car is getting picked up from the body shop Monday. I have my 3476 Turbo engine (changed my mind again, back to Boost), I hav emy low mile 4L80E, I have HPTuners.

As for all the wiring and such. To heck with it. I am going full manual via TransGo's stage 3 shift kit. I dont mind shifting the gears. I had a RMVB TH400 in the last car. It was fun.

All I wan to keep is the Speedo, and that leaves me wiring a Swith for the OD lock up.

Simple enough.

With the speartech harness its more or less just a matter of plug and play not? I wouldn't mind a rmvb myself but I think in the end the electronic controlled version will be better. Espceially driven on the street IMO.

I agree. Being able to put it in OD and go would be nice. Banging gears is fun too. I loved the TH400 with the RMVB. I just wanted the OD. That's really the only reason for the 4L80E in my car.
