I'm verry happy with Mercon V full synthetic. It cools down very quickly and is working very good. Since Ford trannies are garbage they had to come up with a better trans fluid and they did. Dont get the Dex/Merc stuff, get the Mercon V, I use Valvoline. Im sure you'll like it and its only about $5-6 at Kragen. I have a tranny cooler and I change the fluid every 10,000mi, but thats just me regardless of fluid brand because I drive my car hard and wanna be on the safe side.
I've used Amsoil in the past, didn't seem any different. I used RP and it would hesitate during the shifts?
I just use non-synthetic Castrol in my FLT now. Works just fine.
Yeah I guess you'd need to test the conventional ATF followed by the synthetic ATF to see if there was any difference. But from you're saying it's probably not much of a difference if any.
Dexron 6, if you have an aftermarket converter you will not need as much as a stock complete fill. A 10" converter holds about 3 quarts less that a production 300mm converter. Start at 9 quarts and check. It depends on the pan you have as to how much will will need also.

Would it be beneficial to have a deeper pan or would that be for more extreme setups?
Damn! How many qts make up a gallon? Wonder if it'd be cheaper to buy it in gallon containers rather than qts?
4 quarts make a gallon
