| Nissan refuses to replace GT-R owner's busted transmission Nissan refuses to replace GT-R owner's busted transmission
A member of the North American GT-R Owner's Club forums started a thread recently in which he tells about dropping off his Nissan GT-R at the dealership when he began hearing loud noises coming from the rear of the car. The dealership told him that his transmission was toast as a direct result of him turning off the car's VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) too much, which you have to do in order to use the Launch Control function. The cost to repair the tranny is $20,000 and Nissan won't cover it under warranty since the GT-R owner's manual states that damage to the transmission is not covered if it is proven to be the result of using Launch Control with the VDC turned off. In fact, the manual states that the only reason you should turn off VDC is for when you're rocking the vehicle because it's stuck in mud or snow. That's kind of like Nissan saying you should never use the Launch Control function despite the fact it's there. |

| i think they said it wasn't covered from the get-go, but still... no point in having it if its not covered by the warranty, might as well come with nitrous and just put a disclaimer "nitrous not covered in warranty, have fun"

Go read the Nissan & GTR boards and check it out. |

The two that I have read about is one that was launched 70 times in two days. 20 of those where at the track. The other incident was some guy who fabricated a bunch of bs. He happened to not own a GTR. |

And also a link to proof that the other guy really doesn't own a GTR.

"There are officially, as of today, October 13th, 2008. 2 Nissan GT-Rs in the united states that have had transmission failure while driving in 2nd gear . At the time, it is not apparent if it is 2nd gear, a clutch, or any type of internal shaft. They were drivin hard. How hard is for you to decide what level you define. No Nissan GT-R has blown a trans WHILE using launch control. The problems did not arise for 7-10 days after the last launch control use. END OF STORY."

| That sucks, it'd be like GM slapping a 4L60E in the ZR1 and saying don't go WOT or you'll blow it up. But good luck!
Nissan should step up to the plate, bad press for sure! Quote:

I wanted him to cite his sources, because as I predicted, the owner never said anything about 70 launches, a single fanboy member of the forum(who doesn't even own a GTR) said he "heard" that it was around 70 launches. Real credible...
