Default Katech Corvette Z06 ClubSport - An alternative to the ZR1?

I think it looks a heckuva lot better, and hard to argue with 1.12g's on the skidpad.

Quote:
Katech Corvette Z06 ClubSport

Gravity isn’t one of those things most people think much about. We bet you’d notice, though, if it suddenly increased 10 or 15 percent or shifted polarity and pulled you, say, to the east instead of down. Imagine this (but don’t actually do it): take the chair you’re sitting in right now and bolt its feet to a roof that slants at a 45-degree angle. Now try sitting in it. What you’d be experiencing is approximately what someone feels in a car cornering at 1.00 g.

We measure cornering ability in fractions of a g—1.00 g is earth’s gravitational pull on you at sea level—and to street cars, a full g of cornering is what a 400-lb bench-press is to the average gym rat. In the last year or so, we have tested 210 cars, only a handful of which have met or exceeded 1.00 g on the skidpad: we spotted a Viper SRT10 at an even 1.00 g, a Corvette Z06 at 1.03, a Viper ACR at 1.08, and now this Katech Corvette Z06 ClubSport at an astonishing 1.12 g. The only car we’ve tested in the last year that bests that number was a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup—a purpose-built race car—with a 1.16.

Don't forget i think if you get all the options that delete the ac, radio, etc. the weight comes in around 28-2900lbs. Toss in the car already has a shit load of power and just making it weigh less makes it a killer. I love the way it looks, and feel this is what the Z06 should have become since the debut of the ZR1.

Don't care for the hood or the "CLUBSPORT" moniker on the side. Other than that, it's very nice.

Same here, although I'd bet that many on here do not like them at all (i.e.; not chrome, too 'ricey', etc.).
What they don't realize is that Katech is going for the C5/6R, Pratt & Miller look with those wheels. (I wonder if they are O.Z.eds??)
The only thing that would make them hotter would be center locks/pin drives (like on the race cars and Katech/P&M C6RS) instead of a standard 5 bolt pattern.
But that would add $10K+ to the price, which could be better spent towards a strong sequential gearbox, or other mods for road racing.

How freaking awesome would that be in that car?!

If you want more that would be our Street Attack Z06. The ClubSport is sold through a dealer so it must be 50 state legal and we are trying to keep as much warranty on the powertrain as possible.

You're right, that would add quite a bit.

Very cool, but adds $30,000 in parts alone.

Ahhh...gotcha! Makes sense.
You gotta love internet chatter huh? We all think more could be done but we mostly don't realize the decisions behind the product!
Great stuff!

Jason,

UNDERSTOOD.
But if someone were willing to forgo the warranties, and had the coin, would the sequential you (or Pratt & Miller) are working on for the C6RS (IF it's not available already?) be an available option on the 'Clubsport'??

Not feelin the wheels too many thin spokes but I guess they show those huge brakes nicely; Picture that car with a all black roof and some tinted windows. Damn
