Default Strapped the V to the Dyno today

Dyno'ed my cts-v

Mods are comp 220-224 112 cam
kooks 1 7/8 w/catts
K&N intake
And a DMH cutout

Tuned By don at slowhawkperforamnce on his mustang dyno

Numbers are 376hp 363tq

My goal is to see a number alot closer to 400

I realy wish I went with a bigger cam the first time.
I think im going to go alittle bigger since the comp only has .530 int./0.534 exh lift.

( I think its realy holding me back and don agreed)

Do you still have the stock clutch and flywheel? And with a small cam like that, especially how low the lift is I think those are good numbers! You could try some 1.8 rockers which would get you closer to 600 on the lift.

I have a hotcam now but Im swapping in the ssht 228/232 604 intake and 611 exhaust on a 111lsa. Ill let you know how that goes. Im hoping for over 400 but we will see. It should be a torque monster

An underdrive pulley and ported tb would help a bit too if you havent already done these

I just noticed its a mustang dyno, which usually reads low depending on how the shop has it setup. But you have to remember dyno numbers are only numbers. So if it feels good and runs hard dont sweat it. My cars have always read low on the dyno side, but run great numbers at the track.

And what did you pick up with the cutout open? I wouldnt imagine much at these power levels since the v exhaust setup is pretty good.

With the cutout open it picked up about 5hp between the 3-4k range, and then about 1-2 HP the rest of the range so yes our V catback is good.



I am happy with the numbers for now, car is hella fun to drive and the numbers are acurate. All my parts minus the cam guys make about 350-360 on a mustang dyno.

I just want more and since I already have the valve springs for it(patriot duals ratted for .650 lift) and I do my own work .

Im going to bump it to a 228ish cam with 600 lift in the spring time .

Im also going to port the throttle body and slap in a 180 deg stat.

Anyone have any good links/writeups on throttle body porting ?

ABsolutely no offense at all, but were talking about like 2500-3k for mods and a gain of 40 hp? Assuming the total is 2750 thats $70 per hp. That is absolutely insane IMO. I mean we are talking about peak numbers which isnt everything obviously but just shows how much it costs to mod a damn V.

^^^^ i know...i havent put my headers or any thing on yet,so i havent gotten mine to the dyno... but i woulda thought MAX would be at atleast 400...hes dropped alot of dough..

another thing to consider is we have to replace all the damn rubber in the car then do SOMETHING about the wheel hop... ive got 600 in just mounts and bushings.and im still gonna have to grab an axle to do something about the hop....on top of that the headers,clutch,tune..and misc..bolts (arp) and **** adds up quick... just the fluids and tune up when i first bought the car cost me over 200...caddi tax is right..lol im done with this car after this stuff is in...ill buy something else before i shell out 6500 on a blower

Even if it was only 40rwhp which im sure his cam and headers added more than that. The fun factor after having a cam and a good sounding exhaust is well worth the price of admission. It doesnt cost anymore to mod a v than it does a vette. Only parts that are different are the exhaust sytems. V's usually dyno low 300rwhp stock and thats on a dynojet. Im sure on a mustang dyno it would be right around 300rwhp or so.

again...you gotta replace all the rubber and still address the hop issue...gotta add that to the list of mods.. none of which needs to be done to the vettes...i will say again,i have so much fun in this car that it is worth it.

low 300s?, ive seen 340 on quite a few stock Vs on the dynojet and like 330s on a mustang dyno. adding 40hp to a 3000lb car(vette) is a little different then adding 40hp to a 4000lb cadillac. Im sure the car is a ton of fun, all im saying is that he has spent a lot of money for what i would consider a minimal gain for that type of dough

Ya ill be uping the cam in the spring since I already have the springs and etc.
Im Kinda bummed but I was hoping for more, but the car feels fun as hell to driv

You cant realy compare numbers with others though unless they used the same mustang dyno, they are all diffrent.

I dont have a baseline so Im just guessing the gain. My basline on the dyno I used could of been 300

swapping the cam will only take me a few hours, its the valve springs that realy sucked last time but im all set with those.

Ya baselines are good, the only reason i didnt get one is the place I get my car tunned at is about 2hrs away...

I would agree on that number being on the low side. I know a lot of goats that are pushing those #'s with just the mods I have. Of course you gotta take into account the variances with dynos. With a cam though you should be very close if not over that 400 mark. In the end though times and what you think matters more though. Good luck with the car.
