Default Verifying an SS

Hey guys, I need some help. I'm looking at a 2000 Camaro that is supposed to be an SS. It has the obvious, hood, spoiler, emblems, but I can find no door jam sticker indicating that it was modified by SLP. Also, it has a standard air lid, with no SLP, or Batwing markings. Is there a way to verify with the VIN? I would greatly appreciate any help I can get. I don't want to get burned buying a clone.

Thanks a million.

A 2000 would not have a SLP or Blackwing lid. None of the SS's came with the SLP lids standard. Only in 2002 was it an option. If there is no SLP sticker, check the RPO codes. If it says WU8, then it's a SS. You could also contact SLP with the VIN.

just call SLP with the vin#. My SS doesn't have the door sticker, but I called and found out it is #303 in 2002.

You don't need to call SLP for that. Look on the drivers side door sticker. WU8 is the code for an SS and then in addition if you have the Y2Y code, look on your passengers side door for the additional SLP options.

I bought my 01 SS with 10,000 miles on it. It doesnt have the Modified by SLP sticker in the door either. From what I learned only the SLP SS's got that. You have to look at the codes in the door. I forget what the code is but my car is far away from me at the moment to go look.
