Default 427 dilemma - need advice

Hi, I want to buy a 427 block for My 2001 Camaro SS. All I can afford now is just that really. I dont have any money for heads and other stuff but I just wanted to get this block then later upgrade it with the right mods. My questions are:

1) Can I use the ls1 heads, and other supporting accessories, on the 427 block (even though they wont work its best)?

2) Will I be ruining the 427 block by using these?

3) Could I use the same 6 speed T56 stock transmission, stock 10 bolt rear-end for now til I can free up some more cash? If so, how long can these hold up before they break or something goes wrong?

Pls help Me out as I have no idea which direction to take with these. My vision is just to have a badass 427 camaro. Thnx Ben

Well by 427 block do you mean an LS7 or a stroked 6.0 liter aka lq9 LSX block or a really stroked out stock block? Now you could do it a bunch of diffrent ways you really should also look into supporting mods what your power goals are and all that because having a 427 cid is one thing making power is another....and do you really need all that to get where you want to be? Its not cheap Ill tell you that do you have supporting chassis mods Like I always say cheap fast reliable pick two. I guess you could use stock ported casting but you have so many diffrent choices out there I would look into other peoples builds....also what is your budget

Why half ass it?

Save the money and do the motor all at one time and then put it in.

My opinion.

Default 427 dilemma

First of all, its a ls7 427 bored to 442. Well the only reason why I plan to get the block, crank, pistons etc first is because the guy selling it is giving Me a good deal. So who knows when I'll be able to buy a big block like this under $10k, besides the LS7 block only, costs $14,000.
This will kinda be a 2yr project for Me.

Does anyone know somebody out there that has done this before? i.e. installing 427 or 442 in there 2001 camaro ss and still used the stock ls1 heads and other accessories?

Im not 100% sure, but I dont think you can put regular LS1 heads on an LS7.

If you MUST do this, buy whatever your going to buy and just keep saving up and buying stuff for it so you can swap motors instead of having it apart 8 times b/c you wanna be a cheap ass.

"Speed cost money, how fast do you want to go?"

Your correct there the LS1 heads WILL NOT work on an ls7. Again power goals.....those are important for making build choices

Don't you have to resleeve the block to bore it?

As stated, LS1 heads will not go on an LS7 block. The LS7 heads are cheap though. I think about $800 a pair from some site sponsore.

I also have no idea about the dry sump oil system.
