Default Trying to decide what to do for my S-10

So I have a choice really, Spend $10,000 on it to pro-street it and make it run low 11's with a head setup on my current engine, or start a new engine build on say a 454 stroker shortblock from texas-speed..... what do you guys think?

how fast do you wanna go? is low 11's your goal or do you want faster?

if it was me i would buy the new engine if you have 10k to mess with

this is what i would do...

454 short block
TSP Tsunami cam ( 235/240, .654"/.609", 111 LSA)
PRC LS7x 265cc 7.0L CNC Heads
PRC Valvetrain upgrade kit
ported fast 92mm intake
PTM 92mm TB

that equals $10,240 but it would be one mean ass LSX

Well I think eventually I will spend even more than $10,000. I have $10,000 to start with on a new motor, or $10,000 total to spend to pro-street and put heads on it right now. If I build the new motor, then the old one will just be finished as is, with the MS3, 4000 stall, and I will run high 11's. If I build the new one I am aiming for low 9's high 8's NA. I think thats the best I can explain it.... either way I want it pro-street style.

well what im looking at is, I would be building that motor piece by piece and spending probably more than $10,000 total on it, maybe go with a more aggressive cam, and whatnot. As far as suspension... well it will be a full tub with 18" tires on a 4 link with coil overs, sounds pretty good for me

if your looking for 8's/ 9's id do the suspension/ drivetrain/ wheels/tires/ cage and play a while w/ the motor you have then save up again for the motor, then its good to go. rather than having a crazy motor and it probably needing a rebuild by the time you are ready to do the chassis.

why would the motor be ready for a rebuild by the time I do the chassis? I am most likely only going to have it sit for a year and next winter would be when I do the chassis just tubbing wheels tires and some tranny work by rossler and I am good to go

never mind then, i didnt think you would be doing it so soon if you were asking which to do first.

sounds like you got it figured out...now get to work

lol well thats the thing, the suspension and everything would be next year IF I chose that, but I want to know if its realistic to see a low 9 or high 8 second pass with a NA 454 LS based motor and keep it street legal

Ok kinda starting to get a parts list together, so far:

Texas Speed 454 LSX shortblock (unless its cheaper to buy an empty block and have it bored, anyone know?)

PRC LS7x 280cc BIG RUNNER 7.0L CNC Heads

Solid Roller cam

intake manifold (dunno what to get yet)

1 7/8 custom LT headers

Electric water pump

injectors

Stall converter

Tranny build by rossler

**Tub, cage, and ect....
