first of all, what car/year did this come from ?

1st Picture and item is the EVAP purge valve, part for SMOG, can get rid of it as the rest of the smog tubes if not requires. Red tube and stuff are for the AIR injector system (?) and part of the SMOG.

2nd picture, 1st item is the Knock Sensor connector, MAP sensor, Cam sensor and Oil sender starting in the upper left and going clockwise.

Not sure on the 3rd one.. sorry Could be outside air temp ?

Thanks bczee for the quick response.

This LS1 is out of a 2002 Trans Am.

About the 2nd picture...If u look closley. the Knock Sensor connector, MAP sensor, Cam sensor are somhow linked to the a big round composite plug which is part of the intake. And as you can see there is also a rubber tube that is part of the Smog system attached to it. I have remarked the thing I am trying to pint ut in blue above

Can I take of all the smog tubes and cap the ports with some rubber caps or EVAP caps for the local auto store?

Yes... you can either by some pre-made plates for the Air and EGR ports on the Exhaust manifold or build your own. I would consider keeping the PCV system or some of it.. as having vacuum in the crank case is a good thing, but having a good PCV or Catch Can will help control the oil being sucked into the intake.

The EVAP can just be capped by a rubber cap or us it for some other device that requires a vacuum source.. I used it for my Charcoal Canister.

The 2nd picture w/blue marking. .is the vacuum port for the a) Brake Booster (large hose going to the left in the picture), b) MAP sensor and c) the EVAC / Heating control system that requires vacuum to operate the valves and door in the heating/AC system. Do not try to remove the plug as I have not found anyone that was found a OEM replacement part for that plug.

I have a 99' LS1 and the Air and EGR are different from your 02' system. If not required, remove all of the SMOG equipement with the exception of the PCV system, it has some value if not a total all out race engine. But remember that your Fuel tank must either be purged or vented.

Cool......make some sence now.....

I want to keep the PCV system........How do I identify and seperate that from the SMOG and EVAP system ?

I can post some unmarked pic if that will be easy for you to mark on.

And I really appriciate the info you have been providing

on the 2nd pic.. the hose on the top that has a Y, is your pcv hose and system.

As far as the 1st picture with the Red lines, my 99' didn't have that setup, but my guess would be the dump that setup.. Air/EGY system. but if someone with the correct year ping in and let us know what those hose and setup is for.

That's what I figured, but look at that setup.. it's either putting normal Air into the Exhaust that's going through them Hoses, or puttin some Exhaust into the Intake..

That pic you have near the radiator is probably the windshield washer fluid pump.

I got the whole harness out......I missed a few wires ........but I will deal with that later.

On the passenger side , below the starter Big round plug going into oil pan , I think..

What would that be ?
