Question L92 vvt - 05 gto question

Hello all i am new to the LS family. I have an 2005 GTO that was a stolen recovery (missing motor and trans). The motor i have gotten for the GTO is an L92 vvt from a 2007 Esclade. My first choice (which seemed the easiest) was to just swap the cam and reluctor wheel and make it an ls3, but then compcams just came out with the cams for the vvt.. Now I'm torn between rewiring the Gto's engine harness to use the Esclade Ecm or making the motor into the ls3. no matter which way i go, i believe i will be getting a new cam.. what should i do which makes more sense to do.

oh yeah the car will be driven mostly on sunny days and see the track once in a while.

thanks for your help.

I would stick with the VVT. I am about to put a L92 with VVT in my 240SX. With Mast Motorsports cam and tune they are getting 530hp out of the L92. I am also running their harness and computer instead of the factory stuff.

You will want to swap the reluctor wheel back to a 24X so that you can run the engine with the GTO ECM. Otherwise the rest of the car will have problems and you won't be happy when finished. I would forget the VVT for a swap like this.
It would be fine if you were swapping to an older car, but something as new as the GTO you would be better off matching everything up to make it as close as possible to how it came originally.
