Default 350z 56k BEWARE!

Hey guys i picked up an 03 350z today that has a blown engine for basically nothing. I am debating on this i don't know whether to attempt the Ls swap or just put a Z motor back in it and sell it. I want some opinions i have seen the hinson 350z but not many engine bay pics if anyone has had any experience doing one of these installs i'd like some info on how big of a project it really is. I am a mechanic myself and will be doing all of the install myself (once i come up with all the parts). Also keep in mind a used motor for this car is between 2500-3500 bucks. All in all i think it would haul A$$ when it was finished and make an awesome sleeper.

You can see the tail of my ceta in the back

i think it will squeez in there

guy had just replaced the pads and rotors and we put in a cam sensor.

From what I understand the Hinson kit works well and they have the electronics worked out so all the factory gauges work. I would go with the LS motor. Also I see you are in GA so when you get done let me come by and go for a ride

I'm south of ATL about 2.5 hours. I am in Iraq right now but will be home for good this Spring. I will be swapping the LS1 in my 240SX for a L92 so if you aren't done by then and need a hand let me know.

just a little heads up.. if you buy anything from hinson let it be just their headers. everything else you can do much better with less money!

I haven't done any business with Hinson, but have heard mixed results about their products over the years. You might want to see if you can get some feedback from other guys that have purchased their kit before your purchase since everything needed will be a big chunk of change.

I concur. Their mount kits have not so good reviews from members, but their headers I have only seen positives.

They don't make the headers themselves, that might be why, but nevertheless I am likely getting the S14 LS1 headers from them.

Well a lot of the kits these guys have posted are the ones that you would use. I've seen this done several times on the Z forums. At first it started with just a few guys and they were like SEMA cars only. But recently another guy just put a GTO motor in his Z and he said it wasn't that difficult. I'll try to find the link for you but search around on www.350Zmotoring.com and www.my350Z.com . It's been done and the cars come out awesome, they always look really snug in there but what do you expect lol. I think it's a cool swap and good luck.

Well i appreciate all the advise i will definately shop around befor i just buy a 1800$ kit from soeone and i have sent sikky an e-mail about there mounts. Next question is should i do a 5.3 or go with a ls1/6 i already have ta set of stock heads cam pushrods and everything off my car so i basically need a shortblock and i think i'll stick a cam in it for a little more power! i'm just curious what a 5.3L can do?? any opinions.....
