Talking So I have this datsun 610.....Readers decide fate!!

Ok so here is the scoop. I got this datsun 610 for really cheap. All I had to do was fix my brother in laws 66 Volvo 122 and he gave it to me. It has 59K miles on it and it is fairly clean. Heres what the readers here can decide for the datsuns fate. It is going to get an LS based motor and a turbo. So do we build it on the really cheap? IE: junkyard LS1 (we have one) with 2 ebay turbos and truck manifolds (we have all of thoose as well). Or do we build it right? IE: tube chassis, 9" rear, 6.0L T76 ballbearing with forged internals (we have all of thoose parts as well) Either way we have 90% of all the stuff we need to put it together and I thought I would make this build interactive for the LS1tech readers. This poll goes for 14 days, then I will re poll the readers so they can choose engine options, turbos etc. So go vote so I can get to work !!!

Seems I can't add another poll so here is the engine, tranny and turbo list. All of these we have already so the readers can pick the drive train as well. Post on here with your drivetrain ideas and we will add up the votes in the end.

ENGINES; (feel free to mix and match parts)
1: 02 LQ4 6.0l (has H beam rods, needs pistons, would use forged) In it $600
2: 98 LS1 motor 100K miles stock. in it $230
3: 03 LM7 5.3L stock 89K miles. In it $300

Transmissions;
1: TH400 rebuilt stock. In it $0 (came with a car I parted out)
2: TH350 stock needs rebuild. would put a brake in it. In it $0
3: TH400 fresh w/trans brake Swapped a vega for it. In it $300

Turbos;
1: 2 ebay T3/T70 .84 a/r ssautochrome new. In them for $325 for both
2: New Turbonetics T76 Q trim .96 a/r Ball Bearing, In it $900
3: Buy a BW S475 T6 flange (would be in it $650)

Rear Axles;
1: 12 Bolt 60" flange to flange w/posi 4.11's. In it $0. Out of parted car
2: Ford 9" 3.25's, nodular housing, needs to be narrowed. Having housing ends, need spool. In it $62.53 (cost of ends)

There's your options so post your votes!!!

I've always wanted to do something on the cheap and see what it puts down!
But either way is cool with me!

i say do it cheap and ball on a budget.

when you see a guy that has a swap and is like 'i have name brand this and name brand that and i've got 400 horses & it only cost about 10 grand.' you can laugh and say you've got more horses and paid half of what he did or less.

That's a 710...haven't seen one of those since the mid 70's. We were all pretty leary of them but they seemed to run forever. That would be very unique...I say do it right!!

Here's a vintage ad for one made in '76

I know the saying "just because its rare doesnt mean its worth anything", BUT it might have some historical value. That thing look very clean and original and I have never seen one before. Maybe you can barter it to cut something else up.

Historical value? WTF ? Remember Pearl Harbor? Bataan death march?

A good LS motor will break that POS in two!

Keep it stealth, drive it to Epping and run 10s man. Watch their jaw drop.

Do it and BEAT THAT #UCKER.

This is great! Better response than I expected. According to the reg it is a 610 but it could be wrong. I am letting the voting go 14 days. I should have the drive train out and body stripped by then. After that I will re poll and let the readers decide what motor, trans, turbo/nitrous etc. If I could figure out how to keep the golf ball hub caps I would! That would make it stealth! Vote on!!

If I cut up this one it will make all of the others worth more money! Think of all the collectors car going up in value! Anyways, is a K car with 245 miles on it worth anything? It is only worth as much as somone is willing to pay for it.
