Default First trip to the strip in the Chevelle swap

Hit the track yesterday for the first time in my Chevelle swap. Never driven a stick car at the track and I haven't been there for 3 years.

LS1/T56
12 bolt w/ 3.31
243's stock
custom cam
275/40/17 Nitto DR
road race spring/shock combo

Made 2 runs, the second being the best, 12.17@116
Left Lane

I think there is an 11 in her. I left at ~3500 the second run and it spun a hair then bogged, but not as bad as the first run of a 12.6@115 w/ 2.2 60'. I think it needs some more rpm and I need some more seat time. I built the car to handle mainly, but it's an all around street bruiser.

The main thing that mad those old cars heavy was a th400 and a bigblock, You do a ls1/tranny sway and you shed nearly 400lbs. Great runs. If you can squeeze out a 1.70-1.80 60' the you should see that 11 slip.

S what does your Tractor/4x4/grandstand run?

Those are impressive track times for basically a cam only LS1 in a Chevelle

What kind of weight reduction have you done?

What are you cam specs?

Stealth, good going, keep us posted on the progress of tuning and updates...! My biggest problem was just lost of traction with street tires.. are you running any sticky's tires?
I had to idle off and roll in to it just too keep the spining down, but it broke loose on the 1-2 and 3-4 shift anyway.. How was yours and what were you shifting at ?

I have Nitto drag radials on the car. 275/40/17

I think your gears are adding to traction problems. 4.11 vs 3.31 you definitely need sticky tires.

Did a decent burnout to get them warm and shifted at 6800-7000. I actually bumped the rev limiter on the 2-3 shift @ 7k.

For weight reduction, other than the LS1/T56 swap:

No A/C, it's all out of the car
Braille 11.5# battery
Aluminum radiator
SPC Light weight uppers (Front)
Bucket seats, probably lighter than the bench

Interior isn't finished so:
No back seat
Only half of the sound deadener installed

I have C5 brakes sitting in the garage and billet hubs that should drop another 10# per side off the front and some off the back as well, drum to disk swap.

Cam is kinda a secret custom grind: 22X/2XX .600+, sorry it was expensive and screams. I might let it out one day or start selling them.

I'm pretty happy, especially with the suspension setup how it is and the driver. An 11 would be icing on the cake.

I really want to get some track time in the curves.

Nice runs stealth! I wish I was as close to 11s as you thats really nice for the the first time out with the swap. Looks like your car's weight is pretty close to mine as well its interesting to see how much a swap weighs.

Way to go! Been following your build for a long time. Glad to see the excellent results. You'll scare a lot of big blocks with that.
