Nice!! Im swapping in a 5.3 into my 86gt. Are you going to be running an auto or 5/6speed transmission? What kind of cam do you plan on running? I am leaning toward swaping in an ls6 cam and seeing what I can do with it. Keep us updated.

Thanks. I bought the motor straight out of a truck and put it in here. Exhaust manifolds, oil pan and everything straight from a silverado. Trans is a TH350.

Default motor plates

where did ya get those motor plates and how well did they fit? Did you do much trimming to get the motor to sit where you wanted? Did you use a tubular k member? Stace

This is the second car and second set of motor plates I have done. They are fairly easy to make. Car still has stock k member and everything under it. Thanks, Cody.

What ET are you planning on hitting with the 5.3 on the plate?
I just sold my camaro and purchased a notch and debating to go 5.3 carb or 6.0 carb on the plate as well

This car is pretty light and I plan on spraying it pretty hard. Should go mid to high 6s in the 1/8th or atleast I hope.

Went 7.97@88 on motor with 1.73 60ft first night out. Drove it 40 miles each way to and from the track and raced on 87 octane fuel. Didnt think it was too bad for a motor with 102k miles.

that's cool that you are using a 5.3... you can pick them up so cheap, and people ran 327s for years! I swapped a 215,000 mile 4 cylinder and junk trans from an S10 straight up for one!

Have you seen the Car Craft article where they did a heads and cam swap on a junkyard 5.3 and got 460+ hp and almost 400 ft. lbs!

http://carcraft.automotive.com/72081...ine/index.html

Good luck with the project... should be a blast to drive!

I will try to get some pics but I made it to where it uses the water pump bolts on each side.

Did the deep sump truck pan fit in the stang without modification? or did you have to modify the K-member or pan?

Me and My Buddy are doing a 5.3 carbed setup with RPM manifold and 220 cam with a nice set of 317 heads ported and milled. Its a 91 GT with 3.73 gears a TH350 with 3000 stall

No shifter yet, need to make our motor plates... motor is sitting in the bay on stock Truck mounts...not bolted up yet.

Yes. We run the Truck oil pan also. No issues. (its lower than F-body and Fox 302 motor) but we dont plan to hit any small kids or animals.

As far as tranny mount we have a old school chevy tranny mount that lines up with Ford tranny cross member.

What exhaust manifolds or headers are you using 6Lstang?
