Not a Mustang Swap, but I'm swapping a 4.6l cobra(BUilt by Panoz Auto Deveopment) motor OUT of my Panoz GT Race car. not quite a mustang but a lot of it is the same, let me know if you need any advice, or if you have anything to share!

Looks like a fun swap, i've been trying to get my buddy to swap one in his 01GT, but hes stuck on a 100 shot and thinks its fast. No hope for him

As far as your t56..I really don't understand how yall are blowing them up, all I can guess is you are running stock shifters with no stops and overshifting real hard..I have seen that before..even recently a kid i know broke all kinds of shit (shift forks in 3 pieces, etc)in his stock formula because of overshifting. He now has a pro5.0 shifter and no problems.

The last 2 I f*$ked up had kevlar synchros and steel shift forks. 1st one with a pro 5.0 and the 2nd with a Ripper. I dunno. Maybe just bad luck?

wouldn't an 03-04 cobra motor be an easier swap?
You need to price one...Then you will see why.

I haven't researched this in quite some time, but this is what I recall from the top of my head:
This swap has interested me and I've posted in a few threads like it. You mentioned using a t56, and that seems to be something of an issue in Mustang swaps. It's not a huge problem, but Mustangs (at least the v8 variants I believe) use cable clutch setups. Lsx's and t56's use hydraulic clutches and so you would have to figure this out. Many people have tried to convert the lsx/ t56 to a cable clutch but I haven't seen any successes (maybe a custom bellhousing?). This means you would have to convert the car to a hydraulic setup. I also think there will be necessary modifications to the hydroboost or something.

Thats my only concern with the swap^^
How to get the t-56 to work with it.

I have a 97 that I'm thinking about doing a ls1 swap in.

That was something else I was going to ask about. I may just use a 4L60E with a decent sized converter. I just like grabbing gears, but not sure I have the money to get into the T56 route. LOL

I am currently working on a 6.0/auto swap into a 2000 GT.

I have the engine/trans out and the k-member and mounts showed up the other day.

My plan is going to a carb setup for the fun of it.

I may need a little wiring help when the time comes but am also planning on doing a full autometer gauge setup. I really jsut have to figure out what to remove

Physicaly this swap should be a little bit easier than in a fox. You already have hydrobboost for more room and you also have access to a t56 mount from the 03-04 cobra.

Wiring is gonna have to be stand alone harness. and you may lose some features and have to use a camaro cluster.

I would love to do this swap one day. the new edge cars are getting pretty cheap.

Ok just got my 4L60E yesterday and I am picking up my harness and pcm out of a buddy's wrecked 98 B4C car monday. Any recommends for where to pick up my K member? And also any recommends on a converter? I am going to be running a heads and cam 01 LS1, stage 2.5 5.3 heads and a magic stick 3 or 4 cam. I will be driving this on the street quite regularly so I want it streetable.

How many horses have that/those engines been running that the 15 t56's have been behind? That seems like a lot of unfortunate tranny carnage, have you tried the driver mod yet?

As much as I hate Mustangs, and as much as I love LS1s, you must have never driven a Terminator. They're absolute MONSTERS.
I've been considering getting the motor out of my friends Termi cause she just totalled it doing 130. '04 Competition Orange 1 of 281. Guess not any more though...

They have all been over 400 to the ground. I am hard on cars for sure, but as many people as I know it has happened to I just don't know. I have the built 4L60 now anyway so not a biggie. But it may be the crazy driver mod. LOL
