Hooker's got a bunch of ls swap headers and mounts available, but its prooving pretty tuff to figure out what pan fits with these. All this header/mount/pan homework is fuckin annoying
I'm runnin an LQ4 in a 68 A-body. Any body try these swap headers and mounts? if so what pan did you use? I called hooker and they couldn't give me an answer. The guy thot their parts were based on the F-body LS pan, but wasn't sure. I'd like to be sure (obviously) before i buy.
I had the Hooker swap mounts and headers on my 68 Chevelle. The pan I used is a Street & Performance modified f-body pan. A stock f-body pan will definitely not work with this combo. I would think that many of the aftermarket swap pans (Moroso, Milodon, Autokraft, Canton) should work as well, but I have no first hand knowledge of this.
i was told it would work and i was told it will not work.
bottom line is i believe the f-body pan will work with the hooker mounts and headers, you may have to use a tall and narrow factory motor mount,if i am not mistaken there are several different factory motor mounts.
short and wide and tall and narrow and the 6 cylinder. need to do some checking on that.
there is alot more stuff you need to know as far as making the motor fit, i will leave the rest up to you, to figure out. Research SKILLS
i had a minor set back to where i had to stop with my build.
good luck
im running a 69 chevelle, using the Hooker headers & mounts-i used the caddy CTS oilpan, minor bump with the tie rods on lock to lock, but its been on there a year, no problems, and its factory piece
i used the 350-454 frame mounts, some guys have raised the engine, i fig if it really bothered me i would just notch the pan a little when i do my stroker swap-i "tweaked" a pitman arm and idler arm a tiny bit to lower the drag link and it cleared, nothing noticable in the bumpsteer area, but didnt change it when i installed new front end parts-that other pan looks interesting, but think the same tie rod clear. would be there, would have to meas the pan depth in the same location-must be some kind of Hummer pan or Holden, or something

How low does the pan hang compared to ur crossmember?
