I went to Salvage Yard to look around and found the 6.0L engine had 45K, been used by Penske Rental (look at pix>>). The 6.0L (2004 Chevy) engine run good and asking for $1,500 come with all accessories, wiring loom, ECM (brain),air cleaner, mass flow and automatic transmission.
I did search on that engine but it was difficult to get I.D. engine because its under compartment. I am not sure that engine has aluminum or iron block. The heads looks like alumunium. Anyone knows about Penseke Rental vehicles. Is that engine LQ4?
How much horsepower and torque?
I think about putting that engine into 2001 Camaro.
Look at the ft of the heads.. Will be aluminum, and have "317" cast on the top lip. 6.0L. Could also have the 4L80 trans. Maybe you could get the whole d. train for a few $ more??

I would guess it's a iron block lq4 345hp. But the guys with More experince. I think 1500 is avarage price for a complete setup.
LQ9s are the 345hp version.

I don't know about you guys, but unless it's a GREAT buy I would wait...Anytime I get my hands on a rental I make sure I beat the piss outta it, no matter what it is!

1500 is a pretty good deal the 317 aluminum headed lq4 motors are rated at 320 to 325 hp i have a ls1 engine how to book that has a write up on them they dynoed an lq4 with factory exhaust, air intake and tune and it made 338hp

rentals get the piss beat out of em, but if u got plans on rebuilding it then i see no reason not to. I used to work at a rental yard and i too put the hammer down every time i got into one hot or cold.
That's a a LQ4 4l80 and is a 3500 Van chassis. It they want $1500 for the motor and trans I would get it. Even if it had the piss beat out of it. If they changed the oil etc it should be OK.
The L76 is an aluminum 6.0L with AFM and VVT used in the 07-up trucks.

The guy started up and drive that Penske Cubed van to the garage where they take off the motor/trans. He said, it run very good.
Got the motor/trans. I will start work to take off those heads and trans.
Air cleaner things/Motor Mount- I don't think so I do need those.
Radiator/AC Condsensor- Too big for the Camaros
Gas Tank: I don't need but should I take the fuel pump/strainer out to put it in my Camaro gas tank?
Transmission: 4L80E correct? Should I keep and install it in my Camaro? or Sell?
LQ4 Iron Block and #317 Aluminum Heads w/ECM, had ~45k miles on:
I think about going to have rebuild on that engine to do replace the bearings (crankshaft and camshaft) Possibly piston rings. I WANT change the camshaft to make run ~420 hp on daily drive and sometime do road course weekend. Anyone had rebuilded on that LQ4? please post it here?
Does that LQ4 intake manifold would clearance in 2001 Camaro SS Hood? Have to replace to use OEM Ls1?
Appreciate for input.
