Default My 240ISHH build thread -LSX 408 in a S14 240sx

I wanted to do a build thread while i was actually doing the install but didn't make the time to complete one. The motor is in and running but the fun is just beginning and i guess the modding process will never stop. i don't have a lot of pics but will be taking some and some videos along the way....

The car is a 1995 nissan 240 sx that i purchased from a friend as a roller. I originally wanted to do a fd third gen rx7 but i needed a backseat for the simple fact i have a wife and a lil girl who loves motorsports as I do. I had to pull a very heavily modded sr20 out of the car to make way for 4.7 more liters

The motor started out as a 6.0 liter iron block and bored and stroked to a 408. I used Eagle crank and rods and Arias pistons, the heads i bought from a member on here 243 castings which were hand ported and stainless steel valves were installed with dual valve spring kit from texas speed. Then I bought a fast 90 intake and a 90 mm nick williams TB from a member here on ls1tech. I then turned to patrick G for a cam spec for my 12.0:1 compression motor. Patrick G steered me into 251/259 624/624 on a 111+3 comp cams bumpstick.

I talked to Frankie at PXracing for my mounts, subframe modification, and wiring harness mod. He is a great person to deal with and great fab guy. frank also sent me a remote bleeder for the slave cylinder (which i think everyone would love to have).

Brian Hinson at Hinson motorsports helped me out A LOT along the way. He helped me figure out a fuel system that would allow me room to grow in the future. Dual walbro 255 intake fuel pumps feed dual -6an stainless fueel lines passing thru dual inline hinson fuel filters . From there they enter the fast fuel rails and 42 pound green top ford fuel injectors , and then exit the rails into an Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator and then -6an return to tank.

I have a t56 that has the sixspeedinc upgrade kit installed. wilwood master cylinder and a zo6 slave try to keep up with my heavy left foot. I was running a Ram Hd clutch and Ram steel flywheel but unfortunately started slipping this past weekend at track. So thanks to a friend and member here i am installing a Textralia oz 700 clutch and flywheel.

Brian at hinson also hooked me up with a Kaaz limited slip differential using the stock 4.08 gear. I am currently still using the stock axles but deliberating with the idea of installing a straight axle rear.

Now I am saving up to get the car tuned. Honestly with the compression and mail order tune for a old setup lol , i am hoping for 50 more whp on the dyno but time will only tell. I will be posting pics and videos along the way. If you are plannig a swap maybe some of this info might assist along the way.

i also ran twice on motor this past weekend and posted them in multimedia and will post them here for reference

Nice setup. A GT45R is going on mine once I get to my permanent duty station. Let me know if you need anything!

Thanks man. Yeah I actually had 2 bullet style mufflers on it and it was super quiet. It actually passed the Honda test it was so quiet lol. Driving down the highway they would always try and mess with me. It sounded like a 4 cylinder on the highway Lol. As far as the vette fuel rail covers Lol I live in south Ms and when explaining to someone about my car I'm like its a high compession 408 ls1 blah blah. Then I pop the the hood and they are like man that mutha has a corvette motor in it.

Here's a few more pics. The exhaust was done by one of my friends who is a member here and did nice work.

Here's a lil rear view with my control arms that I welded a 1/4 inch steel plate on each for strength

Here's all the busy gauges that I look at while driving.

A side view. Its about to be satin black

Do you happen to have a picture of the interior that shows the position of the shifter, without the boot in place?

That is redonkulous. I honestlycan't think of a better set up than that. I am about to do an S13 swap with a stock LS1 and I was wondering what type of oil pan setup you have. In the pics it doesn't look like a dry sump...

A few years ago I had a '95 240sx, I sold it when I bought my Camaro and ever since I've wanted a '95ish 240sx with a LS1 for a daily driver....I think it would be a realy nice car to drive around in...the stock 2.4/auto was just to gutless for me but I loved how the car drove and drifted.

Couple more questions. Are those Hinson headers?

Does the hood fit with the way the engine is sitting?

i used 3 inch bullet style mufflers and a 3 inch flowmaster y pipe, regular 3 inch pipe from any muffler shop and 3 - 3 inch mandrel 90s off ebay.. then 3 inch stainless band clamps to mount it on headers and rear section
