I would have to agree with your dad on this one...I would hate to see an oil leak on the high pressure side shooting oil all over the engine bay and starting a fire. For the cost of some -3 or -4 an lines and fittings, it is good insurance for all the money spent on the new parts you just bought. Keep us posted on your results.

id leave the piping unwrapped so you can check for leaks once its running. once your satisfied theres no leaks, wrap the pipes. i would`nt be embarrased about your welds. your learning. i would grind the welds as flat as possible though. i will help when you go to wrap the piping.

and more pics...got the waste gate in ,all the hot piping done.. straight pipe out the side for now.. till i get anowd with it. this thang is so ugly its beautiful.. not intended to look good just run pretty darn fast.. i like the parish build and that box mustang with the 5.3 t76 140mph + in the 1/4 mile.. pretty dang impressive..i have a 9lbs sping in wastegate.. i looking for a meth kit.. all i have left is the charge pipe to the intercooler. its a twin intercooler.. so im going to split the pipe into a y.. then work out any bugs that ae left. and drive the hell out of it..

Or a front bumper? Looks like it would probably block the airflow to the intercooler entirely.
It also looks like you probably cut out the entire hood latch assembly completely correct?
I've been trying to get ideas on where to mount an intercooler on my 71 El Camino because I too am building a 5.3L Turbo motor for mine.
I'll keep watch on your progress. Thanks for posting!

Grinder and high temp/ black spray paint will go a long way to clean that engine bay up! Looks like you're on your way! You could always take those pipes off and have someone mandrel bend you some to exactly what you have now if you ever wanted to make it clean and easy.

thanks.. i got a lc1 it seems to be.. but not the right port to my comp.. i dont know how to intstall it on to my comp.. tryed and it made my hptuners goaway,delete.. i was scared for a moment.. lost all my tunes.. but i didnt.. i cant figure this lc1 thing out.. cant i buy a gauge for it or something.. part number is 3769 lc1- & o2 sensor... .. i still have the tune from a well known tuner when i had twins on here,, i will play with that tune.. it was small twin turbo kkr330s, into a 4.8, stock cam, same heads.. so i think i will have to give it more fuel..timing set at 13 for that tune..
