It has been almost 3 years since my son and I bought our Chevy II. It was a sad POC to start with. I decided to go with an LS1 since it is hard to beat a computer controlled fuel injected, all aluminum Chevy engine. I learned what an LS1 was all about with the help of LS1tech.com. I want to thank each and every one that were so generous with the help that allowed us to work carefully to get the car to start up on the first try.
It is far from being done but we can sleep easier knowing that it runs and when the point comes that the brakes, interior, and final touches are complete it will be a cruiser. It may not be the way you would do it but it is ours.
Thanks

looks and sounds good! I am searching for a LS1 and trans for my '65 right now...
Where'bout in KC are you? My wife was born and raised out that way, we get back around the holidays to see the inlaws, might have to try and set up an informal Nova/LS1 meet-n-greet.
Love it, although i prefer 2nd gen's., these are bad as well. Lighter too. Stock LS1? I dont know how you could resist modding it a tad, since it was on the stand at some point. Either way, cool project. Im looking forward to doing a 2nd gen. nova some day, with a nice 396 stroker TT. *prays for the lotto*

Thanks you all for the good words. It has and will be fun. It was a 6 cylinder powerglide car when it was new. Black and red, bucket seats and AC when new. When we got it there was just a sad, sad body with a title. It is not meant to be a hot rod, just a cruiser, although now that I think about a small cam....................

Did your crossmember line right up for your muncie or did you have to modify it? Ive got a 64 nova ss that I'm going to put a 5.3 in with a muncie, just tring to figure out what I need.

The factory crossmember works fine with no alterations. I had to make a flat steel adapter plate to move the mount either frontwards or back. Only had to do that because my engine is not in the exact factory location. Then I measured the driveline angle before I had the mounts welded on the rearend to make sure that angle was right.
