I'm gonna go with the BRP's and install kit. I'm not looking forward to it considering they are built by Hedman and have multi-piece flanges, primaries and bolt on connector. I dealt with that crap on my SBC/ S-10 swap PITA!
Sweet, just got of the phone with a salvage company. How's $1,500.00 for a complete 23,000 mi., LY6, w/ harness, pedal, and alternator? Do I need anything else with it? It's still in the truck/van. I believe it's an 08 Express 3500. Is the tac module attached to the pedal? Any help would be appreciated. I hope to have it picked up within a week. Got the old SBC and turbo 350 out last night.

just grab everything that u can. bring the flexplate too.
I'd like to just take the whole damn van, so I know for sure, that's not gonna happen for that price though. What about hte TAC module, is it on the DBW pedal?
Flexplate - check
dbw pedal- check
Tac(hopefully)
I want to get everything I can so later if I want or need to go back to EFI I have all the stuff I need.
Where is the TAC module located? I know I'm going carburated but want all elec. stuff needed to go EFI in the future? He says I can take what I need out of the truck for cheaper!
As I recall, there is no TAC module on the 08's. After 2007, the PCM handled all of the DBW functions. It seems that there should be a connector in the main harness that connects straight to the pedal. Are you sure that the TAC module is from the same vehicle?

Sweet man, I just wanted to get everything with it, just in case I wanted to run EFI later. Thanks!

yeah man, get absolutely everything you can - you never know what you might need in the future (maybe not even for this swap) - that's what i did. I still have the LY6 oil pan, oil cooler lines, pickup and windage tray plus a bunch of other stuff left over. I've just been way too lazy to list all of it, so I need to get on it.
I'm working out odds and ends with my LY6 Firebird... hopefully in the next few weeks I'll have a dyno chart available. Crossing my fingers!

Cool, I plan on grabing everything I can! Keep me posted on your LY6 swap progress. When I get everything I'll start a build thread or post here. Thanks man!
My LY6 swap is done for all intents and purposes. I'm just working on getting my Tach and Speedometer working.
My mod list is as follows:
LY6 engine (stock)
Hooker LT headers
True Duals/Bullets with dumps at the axle
ram air intake
35mm Strano hollow front/22mm solid UMI rear swaybar
UMI 3-point subframe connectors
BMR shock tower brace
Energy poly a-arm bushings (PITA)
UMI adjustable torque arm
UMI adjustable rear-lower control arms
BMR adjustable panhard rod
M12 t56 from a 2004 GTO
LS1 driveshaft
Pro 5.0 shifter/short stick
Harwood ram air fiberglass hood
stock Pontiac Ram air intake box
L76 intake
Poly engine/trans mount
stock 90mm drive by wire throttle body
DBW gas pedal out of a 2005 Impala
here are the pics I have of it so far - I'll have a video of it running and a write-up before long.
All I can say is that the VVT was 100% worth it. I have never felt low-end like this and it pulls hard all the way into redline. Not even my F13 cammed 2001 SS Camaro that made 422rwhp peak felt like this car does. On 315 street tires there's no traction all the way through third gear.. This car would eat my old cammed SS alive in a straight line or cornering.
I'll check it out when I get home, can't access it here from work. There aren't a lot of these hanging out in wrecking yards yet. I'm still determined though!
